According to a brand new poll, the vast majority of American citizens are opposed to expanding the Supreme Court, despite calls from progressives who really, really want to see that happen so they can pack the court with liberal justices and keep their agenda in place forever.
The Supreme Court voted last week to overturn Roe v. Wade due to the bench featuring a conservative majority. The idea to expand the number of justices in the court, in order to make it more balanced — which is what the left claims they want to do, but come on now, we know better, don’t we? — has been around ever since former President Donald Trump started filling vacancies with right-leaning justices.
Reports have indicated that expanding the bench is possible, legally speaking, and is not hindered by any sort of restriction mentioned in the Constitution. The fact the court currently features nine seats is something that’s been around for 150 years.
However, according to a NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll, those surveyed are mostly opposed to expanding the court, even after the abortion ruling, with 54 percent being against it.
Only 34 percent stated they supported the idea of expansion.
Here is more information from Newsmax:
The poll also asked respondents if they supported the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade; 40% said they favored it, but 56% said they opposed it. Additionally, 57% said they believed the court’s decision was political.
Nonetheless, the poll reflects a troubling split between constituents of the two political parties, with 84% of Democrats saying they had little to no faith in the Supreme Court and 71% of Republicans responding they had a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the court.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, while speaking on behalf of President Joe Biden, told reporters Saturday the president “does not agree with” expanding the number of Supreme Court justices’ seats. Jean-Pierre did not offer a further explanation of the president’s reasoning.
“However, many Democrat key figures have expressed their support for expanding the court, including Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Pramila Jayapal, Mondaire Jones, Ilhan Omar, and Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey,” the report said.
You’d have to be a total moron to think the Democrats want a more “balanced” court. What they want is for the court to be run by liberals in order to ensure that nothing stands in the way of the implementation of their progressive agenda.
And it seems most people know that’s what would happen.
