The Babylon Bee Just Got Booted From Chinese-Owned Social Media Platform

The conservative Christian satire site The Babylon Bee, which has some extremely funny content that, at times, is very scathing against the radical left, has apparently been given the boot from Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok.

The site’s social media manager posted up a screenshot that revealed the account had been banned, also going on to reveal that it happened without any kind of explanation along with “no option to appeal.”

Sounds a whole lot like censorship, doesn’t it?

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon also mentioned the TikTok ban in a post alongside other recent examples of “tech companies” that “are continuing to censor us.”

Dillon mentioned FrontHQ, an email service provider, and Linktree, a social media reference landing page.

TikTok is owned by Chinese-based ByteDance. “Last year, the Chinese government-owned firm acquired a minority stake in the company’s main subsidiary, Beijing ByteDance Technology, according to the South China Morning Post,” the Washington Times reported.

Dillon stated back in March that the satire site had been locked out of its Twitter account for what was determined to be “hateful conduct.” He went on to say that the social media company wrote, “Our support team has determined that a violation did take place, and therefore we will not overturn our decision.”

You know, the thing we need to keep in mind when it comes to these terms that the left throws out all the time, like “hateful conduct” is that they are arbitrary. Meaning the definitions can be shifted around a lot in order to ensure that they are only applied to conservatives, while those on the left get to celebrate a victory against their enemies thanks to censorship.

Censorship is a fantastic weapon for those in power. Not so much for people who aren’t.

“The Daily Wire previously reported that Twitter’s initial decision occurred in reaction to a Babylon Bee piece that jokingly named Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine as ‘Man of the Year.’ Levine — a transgender person who identifies as a woman — formerly served as secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and was appointed by President Joe Biden to serve in the federal government. Recently, Levine was named one of USA Today’s ‘Women of the Year,”‘ the report said.

Twitter then went on to flag the post for violating its policies against “hateful conduct.”

The platform’s rules say, “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”

Dillon then stated that the account could be restored 12 hours after they deleted the tweet that linked to the Levine article, however, the Babylon Bee refused to give in and thus decided not to comply.

“We’re not deleting anything. Truth is not hate speech,” he tweeted. “If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.”

Dillon later clarified that the greatest accomplishment one could have on Twitter wasn’t having a huge following but getting banned for telling the truth.

“The greatest accomplishment on Twitter isn’t going viral, or building a huge following, or getting verified – it’s getting banned for saying something true. We’re proud to stand up for the truth, and we’re deeply appreciative of each and every one of you who commits to standing with us,” he said.

Amen to that.

The only way to truly fight against the lunacy taking place in our culture is through standing up and boldly proclaiming the truth, regardless of the consequences our culture attempts to punish us with.
