Take A Look At What US, UK Just Busted Iran Within International Waters

The United Kingdom announced on Thursday that it seized what they are calling a “sophisticated” Iranian missile from smugglers in the Gulf of Oman, which is international waters, earlier this year, providing proof, they say, that Tehran is supporting Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Interestingly, the U.S. Navy assisted the Royal Navy HMS Montrose in completing two different seizures from smugglers that were at the helm of speed boats just of the coast of Iran back on Jan. 18 and Feb. 25 of this year.

According to the Fox News report, the smugglers were in direct violation of a 2015 arms embargo enforced by the UN Security Council. Forces discovered that the smugglers were carrying “dozens of packages” that contained surface-to-air missiles and engines that were designed for land-attack cruise missiles.

Quite the arsenal, right?

“This is the first time a British Naval warship has interdicted a vessel carrying such sophisticated weapons from Iran,” the British embassy located in Washington, D.C. went on to reveal in a statement.

“On both occasions, a Wildcat helicopter launched from the HMS Montrose and scanning the area in a routine check found vessels speeding away from the Iranian coastline,” the Fox News report said.

“After pursuing the vessels with the air support of an MH-60 Seahawk helicopter from the U.S. Navy destroyer, the USS Gridley, British marines approached the vessels by rigid hulled inflatable boats (RHIB) before inspecting them,” Fox reported.

“Dozens of packages containing advanced weaponry were discovered, confiscated and brought back to HMS Montrose,” the embassy revealed, going on to add that 358 surface-to-air missiles and 351 land-attack cruise missiles were discovered during the operations.

The British embassy also pointed out that the land-attack cruise missile, which, by the way, has a range over 620 miles, is often used to help Houthi rebels in the strikes they carry out against Saudi Arabia.

In fact, the weapon was used on Jan. 17, 2022, during an attack launched on Abu Dhabi that ended up killing three civilians.

Can you imagine living in that part of the world? These people have to be living in complete and total paranoia each and every moment of their lives. What kind of existence do you call that?

“These interdictions demonstrate the professionalism and commitment of the Royal Navy to promoting stability in this region,” Commander of HMS Montrose, Claire Thompson, commented after the seizures. “I am extremely proud of my crew – the Royal Navy sailors, aircrew and Royal Marines involved in these endeavors and the significant positive impact they are having in maintaining the international rules-based order at sea.”

“The U.S. and the U.K. have said they are committed to working together to stop Iran’s illegal smuggling of weapons to Yemen, which is the site of one of the greatest humanitarian crises in the world,” Fox News stated.

The war in this region of the world has been going on for eight years now, leading to the deaths of 377,000 people and has resulted in a staggering 4.3 million Yemenis being displaced.

Again, that seems absolutely horrific to live through.
