The on-going spat between Elon Musk and Donald Trump has intensified as the former president claimed he could have made Musk “beg” on his knees.
Writing on his new social media platform and pro-free speech alternative to Twitter, Trump lashed out at Tesla billionaire Musk after he suggested he should give up politics and “sail into the sunset” yesterday.
Trump intensified the feud today when he posted a series of scathing comments about the wealthiest man on the planet and his businesses. Claiming that Musk had visited the White House during his presidency in 2016 and 2020, Trump wrote:
“When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocket ships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless.”
He added that the outspoken SpaceX CEO would often tell the (then) president that he was a big supporter of his, so much so that Trump claimed: “I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it.”
The former Apprentice star went on to criticize Musk’s botched Twitter $44 billion takeover deal and said he could end up losing his money:
“Now Elon should focus on getting himself out of the Twitter mess because he could owe $44 billion for something that’s perhaps worthless. Also, lots of competition for electric cars!” he posted.

He went on to reference the potential lawsuit Musk could be facing against Twitter, as the company has threatened to take the billionaire to court for breaching the terms of the deal, before concluding that Twitter’s former owner, Jack Dorsey should take over:
“Why was Elon allowed to break the $15 million stock purchase barrier on Twitter without any reporting? That is a very serious breach! Have fun Elon and @jack, go for it.”
His comments come a day after Musk had posted a similar series of sassy posts directed at Trump after the MAGA leader suggested that he was a “bullsh-t artist” and that Musk had said he had voted for him in 2020 despite suggesting he voted GOP for the first time last month.
Yesterday, Musk responded by posting to Twitter that there should be an upper-age limit of 69 for presidential candidates. Trump is 76, before saying that the former president should
“Hang up his hat and sail into the sunset”, before declaring a preference for Florida’s governor Ron DeSantis:
Musk’s hold over the right-wing Twitter community could prove problematic for Trump in a presidential leadership race if DeSantis decides to run for the post and Musk continues to publicly (and perhaps financially) back him. Thus far, neither Trump nor DeSantis has announced whether or not they will stand in the 2024 presidential election.

Today, Elon comically responded to Trump’s sassy posts with a GIF of Simpson’s character, Grandpa, presumably in another dig at Trump’s age, along with the caption “Lmaooo” – internet slang for “laugh my a** off”.
The drama continues!
