The children of Donald Trump’s first wife, Ivana have paid tribute to their “tenacious” late mother today as the 73-year-old former model was found unresponsive at the bottom of a staircase in her New York City townhouse.
The glamorous mom-of-three was found by members of staff at around 1pm on Thursday as they arrived at her home. Authorities say she may have fallen down the stairs after a medical episode, although her exact cause of death is yet to have been released.
Ivana was a lively socialite right up until the day of her death. She had been planning a trip to the millionaire’s playground of St Tropez in France and had a hair salon appointment that afternoon.
She was last seen alive on Wednesday afternoon when her housekeeper and assistant left the home.
The brother of the hair salon owner said Ivana had been coming to the salon every week for 20 years to get what they call the ‘Ivana Special’ but was surprised when a housekeeper called to cancel that afternoon’s appointment.
“I’ve also known her for 20 years. She was a very nice lady, we’re shocked and sad. She had an appointment today at 2pm and the housekeeper just cancelled,” said Faith Cakirca.
‘I know she was going to St Tropez until September. I just saw her last Friday, she came to the salon, I did her hair. She was great, nothing wrong with her. She looked very healthy and happy. She was a very lovely lady …. Very friendly,” he added.
Yesterday, a friend was seen collecting Ivana’s Yorkshire Terrier, Tiger from the house as family and friends arrived shortly after.
Her death came as a huge shock to her three children, all of whom have paid tribute to their mom, as has her ex-husband, former president Donald Trump.
They were married in 1977 and divorced in 1992.
“It’s been a very sad day, a very sad day,” said Eric Trump, 38, the youngest of her three children, as he left his mom’s home near Central Park.

“Our mother was an incredible woman – a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend.
“Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination,” he continued.
“She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.”

40-year-old Ivana said she was “heartbroken” and that their mother “modeled strength, tenacity and determination in her every action’ and had ‘lived life to the fullest,” as she spoke to reporters outside Ivanka’s home.
“She lived life to the fullest – never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance. I will miss her forever and will keep her memory alive in our hearts always”.
Heartbroken by the passing of my mother. Mom was brilliant, charming, passionate and wickedly funny. She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance.

She shared family photos of her as a child with her mother including snaps of a ski trip and an adorable picture of her as a small child kissing her mom on an ornate, golden bed. Eric also took to Instagram to share some intimate photo-memories of his late mother.
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Jr. has yet to make a public statement, but the trio’s father, Donald took to his social media platform Truth Social to share his tribute to an “amazing woman”:
“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City. She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
