Anthony Richardson, quarterback for the Florida Gators, who many believe is going to be a Heisman trophy contender for the upcoming college football season, is now changing his nickname as a means of taking a stand against the country’s most popular sporting rifle owned by millions of people.
According to The Daily Wire, Richardson stated that he’s decided to change his “AR-15” nickname, which is a combo of both his initials and the number on his jersey, along with his scope reticle logo after talking things over with those who are closest to him.
In short, he’s caved to the woke mob in order to remain relevant, likely to get those big sponsorships since college players are now able to make money from their name, image, and likeness.
“After discussions with my family and much thought, I have decided to no longer use the nickname ‘AR-15’ and the current apparel line logo, which features a scope reticle, as part of my branding. While a nickname is only a nickname and ‘AR-15’ was simply a representation of my initials combined with my jersey number, it is important to me that my name and brand are no longer associated with the assault rifle that has been used in mass shootings, which I do not condone in any way or form,” the Florida Gators quarterback said.
Richardson, in his tweet, made a reference to the term “assault rifle,” which many ignorant leftists mistakenly think the “AR” in “AR-15” actually stands for.
The “AR” actually stands for “ArmaLite Rifle,” which is the company that designed the weapon way, way back in 1956. Also, there’s not an “official” definition of what constitutes an assault rifle or weapon, because in reality, those descriptions have nothing whatsoever to do with the functional aspects of the guns in question.
They are basically attached to weapons that mamby-pamby liberals think look scary. Given how they freak out over just about everything, a pen knife is probably considered an assault weapon.
“My representatives and I are currently working on rebranding, which includes the creation of a new logo and transitioning to simply using ‘AR’ and my name, Anthony Richardson,” the quarterback’s statement concluded.

“Richardson, who will be a sophomore this upcoming season, had already launched a clothing company last year selling jerseys, shirts, and other gear,” the Daily Wire reported.
The Florida Gators quarterback only played a total of seven games last season when he was a freshman, for a total of 528 passing yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions. Richardson also brought in 401 rushing yards with three touchdowns.
“Despite all the hype surrounding Richardson, the 6′ 4″ 236-pounder is not guaranteed to be the team’s starting quarterback this upcoming season as he will have to beat out Ohio State transfer Jack Miller,” the report concluded.
Apparently, Richardson doesn’t know what it means to have principles you are willing to stand on, regardless of the cost it might have on the future of your career. It’s understandable he wants to be able to make a lot of money, especially in his college years, but there’s nothing worse than abandoning what you believe in so that you can appease a loud, obnoxious few.
