New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, promised while on the campaign trail to ensure that the Big Apple remained a sanctuary city for illegal migrants, providing them with an ample supply of social benefits. However, he’s now issuing a big-time warning about a recent influx of these migrants into the city, stating they will have a massive impact on every block and on the daily way of life for New Yorkers.
Kind of funny how folks like Adams are always wanting to defend those who come into the country illegally, then once that actually happens, they suddenly, in a very subtle way, sing a different tune. Because when the rubber meets the road, the resources needed to care for these individuals are so immense, the city really and truly cannot afford the cost.
But, at the same time, they don’t want to admit that, because they do want the influx of immigrants, as they no doubt want them to become Democratic voters in future elections. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, aren’t they?
According to a report from the Daily Wire, back in 2021, then-candidate Adams told his voters that he “would make sure” that “undocumented New Yorkers are being given the support they need, so that their families no longer live in the shadows of the American dream but are part of that dream.”
However, now that tons of these folks have arrived in the Big Apple, the mayor is asking for help from his fellow citizens to help him keep his promise, while stating these same individuals will place a “burden” on the system.
“If there was ever an all-hands-on-deck moment, this is it. This is it,” Adams stated on Sunday. “Our system … was inundated with … you know, those who were seeking shelter because of the callousness of those other states that pushed them out. We’re here. We’re receiving them and everyone is going to have to be on board and we can’t have of the historical, ‘I believe people should be housed but just don’t house them on my block.’”
The mayor went on to say that the increasing number of illegal migrants coming to the city would put a strain on its safety net. Which is exactly what’s happening in states along the border, where these folks are crossing into our country illegally. It’s not sustainable.
“Everyone’s block is going to be impacted by this and so we have to add our advocacy with our ability to help our neighbors and we need everyone on board with this, you know? Because as I stated last week, our schools are going to be impacted, our health care system is going to be impacted, our infrastructure is going to be impacted but we’re willing to do our job and we’re going to do our job and we’re going to need all New Yorkers to be with us on this,” Adams explained.
“Last week, Adams and other prominent Democrats complained that illegal aliens were arriving in their cities and states after being sent there thanks to a taxpayer-funded bus ride from Texas,” the Daily Wire reported.
Adams also recently stated that newcomers to New York City were a “real burden on New Yorkers.”
“As I stated, we already have an overburdened shelter system. So now we’re talking about, as you stated, food, clothing, schools,” Adams went on to say just last week. “This is going to impact our schools because we do not turn away individuals because they’re undocumented, need translation services. There’s just a whole host of things that this is going to produce. And that’s why we need help in getting this done and we need to write coordination to make it happen.”
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was also asked about the “thousands” of illegal migrants who were being shipped up to the city from states like Texas and Arizona.
This, of course, is the only way for these states to adequately respond to the utter lack of help from the federal government to help deal with the border crisis.
“We believe it’s shameful that — that some governors are using migrants as a political tool, as a political play, when we should be making sure that we’re doing everything that we can to help — to help folks who are coming into this process in a legal way and making sure that, you know, we do this in a — in a safe — in a safe way and a respectful way,” she replied. “And I think it’s shameful that that is happening.”
There’s a simple way to solve the problem.
Put up the wall. Enforce election laws that are already on the books. This will plug the hole at the border and end the crisis so we can deal with the folks who are now already here. Part of the solution for that is deportation.
If only the administration worried more about the state of the country than they did about winning elections.
