All of the icons of our youth eventually pass, I know this.
Eddie Van Halen, Macho Man Randy Savage, Olivia Newton-John; it’s just a sad fact of life that we all die.
But Iron Mike Tyson? Come on, man! No, I’m not saying Tyson is dead, let’s not get ahead of our skis here.
Tyson has however pontificated often on the afterlife and his death, often saying he felt it is near.
Now we don’t know if Mike has a window into the spirit world or has taken too many right hands to the head, but Mike was recently spotted with a cane, in a wheelchair at a Miami airport.
Get up Mike, get up! Check out Outkick for the details:
Last month, Mike Tyson shared that he felt his death was coming soon. Now, he’s been spotted in a wheelchair with a walking stick at Miami International Airport.
“We are all going to die, one day, of course. When I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face and say wow that’s my expiration date is coming close really soon,” Tyson explained on his podcast in July.

Well Mike, that was last month! Were you talking about death coming this soon?
It should be recalled that as recently as 2020 Tyson was still displaying those lightning quick hands in a boxing exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.
Mike still looked to be the picture of health, but the wheelchair couldn’t be good.
Last month’s message about his death coming soon is not the first time Tyson has used his podcast to discuss dying. Earlier this spring Tyson told podcast guest Sebastian Joseph Day about surrendering to dying and being at peace when his time comes. “I think death is dying, and dying is death,” Tyson said in May. “Once you die, we begin living again.”
Only Mike Tyson could say something as obvious as “death is dying, and dying is death” and make it sound poetic.
Iron Mike is still able to hit you with a flurry of poetic metaphors before you can even get out of the way.
Famously, Tyson has been experimenting with psychedelics, specifically psychedelic toad venom. He has reported visions into the afterlife and a new insight into death. Ironically similar to what some of his early career opponents experienced during matches with Tyson.
Last year Tyson explained the circumstances surrounding his demise, stating: “I ‘died’ during my first trip. In my trips, I’ve seen that death is beautiful.”
“Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep. The toad has taught me that I’m not going to be here forever. There’s an expiration date.”
Yes, death definitely has a bad rap. It’s a well-earned bad rap, as I think most of us can agree death sucks. It’s literally the worst.
I’m not sure I need toad venom to convince me that we all have an expiration date. Everything does. Even Twinkies. However, let’s hope the toads are wrong, and Mike can will himself out of that chair and keep living. Lord knows the world needs Iron Mike Tyson’s style of poetic musings to keep us entertained.
