Tolerance for the viewpoint of others is something the left in this country boasts about often, but when you really examine this alleged character trait, it is largely absent in application, particularly when it comes to Christians who are trying to live out their faith in a godless culture.
This has been put on display most recently by the fact that a school administrator who runs a Christian school in Florida stated that he and his family have been receiving violent threats due to the school taking a very firm stance on Biblical morality, particularly what it has to say about the issue of homosexuality and gender identity.
According to The Daily Wire, Grace Christian School has remained firm on its stance of asking LGBTQ students to leave and referring to the students who attend the school only being referred to by their biological sex.
Barry McKeen, a school administrator, wrote to parents of students on June 6, saying, “We believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal dignity. Therefore, one’s biological sex must be affirmed and no attempts should be made to physically change, alter, or disagree with one’s biological gender — including, but not limited to, elective sex reassignment, transvestite, transgender, or non-binary gender fluid acts of conduct (Genesis 1:26-28). Students in school will be referred to by the gender on their birth certificate and be referenced in name in the same fashion,” a report from NBC News went on to say.
“We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, transgender identity/lifestyle, self-identification, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful in the sight of God and the church (Genesis 2:24; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; I Corinthians 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:2-7),” he added. “Students who are found participating in these lifestyles will be asked to leave the school immediately.”
Look, this is a Christian school. A school that was built, designed and run by those who are followers of Jesus Christ. The Bible clearly teaches these lifestyles are sinful. No one is forcing anyone to attend this school, thus the school can teach whatever it wants. If it says that these behaviors disqualify students from being able to attend the institution, well, they have the right to say that.
If you are someone who practices one of these lifestyles, why in the world would you even want to go to a Christian school, except to purposefully cause problems? Rather than make a big deal out of all this, why not just accept that this particular school and the folks who run it have a different view of homosexuality than you do and just move on to another school?
Because the folks in the LGBTQ aren’t out to be tolerant of others’ point of view. They aren’t out for equal rights. They want anyone and everyone to accept their lifestyle as normal and to publicly affirm it as such.
After McKeen and his family started receiving these threats over his statement, he then said, “We’re not going to change because God’s not going to change. We are not going to be hateful, but we are not going to back away from this policy.”
“It’s funny for us to … be painted as hateful,” McKeen stated during an interview on Fox News on Sunday, going on to reveal the school had “massive law enforcement” on Friday. “We have fielded hundreds, probably thousands of phone calls Thursday, Friday over the weekend, with just some of the most outrageous things: People threatening to burn my house down, threatening to kill my family.”
“If I backed down from something like this, I’m abandoning what God has said is the truth,” he went on to say. “I …. kind of rack my brain to like, ‘How is this hard for people to understand? This is what God said.’ This is one of the many reasons we have a Christian school, and we’re not going to abandon this policy. God has spoken on these issues.”
“We don’t expect any of our students who are not married to be sexual, whether it be bisexual, heterosexual or homosexual. I tell people, if a kid came in the doors, exclaiming how he was having sex with his girlfriend, that student would be expelled, as well,” he noted, clearly illustrating that the policies are not just for those who are gay or bisexual.
He then brought up how one man donated $5,000 to school, going on to tell them to “stay strong, keep the faith.”
“Our parents are so supportive,” he added.
“Many of them came to church this morning,” he remarked. “They go to other churches normally, but they were here this morning to support. And we’re seeing tremendous support from all over the country even though we’ve been getting a lot of hate calls and hate mail.”
“Maybe God has picked us for this particular time to just encourage [like-minded people] that, ‘Hey, there are things worth standing up for, and we’re going to do that,’” he said in conclusion.
