This NFL Player Was Shot Numerous Times After Attempted Carjacking

Washington Commander’s rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. is back on his feet and in stable condition after enduring a medical procedure after he was shot multiple times during an attempted carjacking on Sunday, authorities confirmed.

Commanders lead coach Ron Rivera told journalists on Monday morning that Robinson is “in a really good place,” per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Furthermore, Robinson shared a photograph on his Instagram of what gives off an impression of being in a medical clinic room, displaying his recovery and his faith writing, “Surgery went well! Thanks for all the prayers! God is Great!”

“The doctors were very positive with him and he was very positive as well,” Rivera said, on ESPN. “He’s very fortunate. He’s doing well. It will be a matter of time before he’s back out here. There’s no timeline, but everything was very positive,” he continued. “It’s just about the recuperating system, and when he’s alright to get on the field, specialists need to clear him and we’ll go from that point. Everything is positive up to this point.”

Robinson who was shot two times not long before 6 p.m. in Washington, D.C., and was taken to an emergency clinic with wounds that didn’t pose any threat to his life, authorities said. As per the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Robinson was shot in his lower body. Rapoport wrote about Monday it was the glute and lower leg and he could be released from the hospital as soon as Monday.

Authorities are looking for two adolescent suspects. However, there are presently no leads on where the attackers are let alone who they could be. News from the shooting spread like wildfire – and even more so since it involved an NFL player. Many were made aware and were supporting the player, including his team.

“We have been made aware that Brian Robinson Jr. was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking in Washington, D.C.,” the team said in a report. “He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital, where team officials are on-site with him. We ask that you please respect Brian’s privacy at this time.”

The previous Alabama standout was chosen by Washington in the third round of the draft in April. He stacked a profession high 1,343 hurrying yards and 14 scores last season with the Crimson Tide while assisting them with making it to the national title game.

Robinson didn’t play in Washington’s last preseason game against the Ravens on Saturday. He had 14 carries for 57 yards and one score over their initial two preseason games. The 23-year-old was supposed to assume a critical part in the Commanders’ run game this season close by Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic.

Rivera said he had visited Robinson in the medical clinic on Sunday night as well, and wrote in a tweet:

“I just finished visiting w/Brian. He is feeling great and believed I should thank everybody for their caring words, petitions, and backing. He maintains that his colleagues should realize he values them for connecting and he adores them all and will be back before long doing what he specializes in.

The team pressed on preparing for the coming season and trained despite Robinson’s gunshot wounds, which both quarterback Carson Wentz and Rivira admitted was tough to do.
