We have seen the scenario played out time and again in movies, television, and books; artificial intelligence being the destruction of mankind. Whether it be through the genetic modifications of apes, (which we are doing), or cloning, or the creation of super smart, artificial intelligence, people can’t seem to understand that it’s dangerous to play God. The Terminator seemed farfetched in the 1980’s, but we are developing advanced AI and humanoid style robots that display emotion. Planet of the Apes? Crazy, right? We are currently injecting human brain cells into monkey brains to the point where monkey brains are growing faster than their skulls can accommodate. How much longer before apes are riding horseback and whipping humans into submission?
Further evidence that our undoing at our own hand is imminent comes from a company called OpenAI. Not only are they developing artificial intelligence advanced enough to replace Google, but next thing you know Skynet is online and we are all searching for a bunker to hide in. Check this out.
A tech company has developed a state-of-the-art AI chatbot so sophisticated that it could render search engines — not to mention countless jobs — obsolete.
Unveiled last week by the OpenAI company, ChatGPT has already amassed more than 1 million users worldwide with its advanced functions, which range from instantaneously composing complex essays and computer code to drafting marketing pitches and interior decorating schemes. It can even whip up poems and jokes — an ability previously thought to be relegated to humans.
Google may be only a year or two away from total disruption. AI will eliminate the Search Engine Result Page, which is where they make most of their money.
Even if they catch up on AI, they can't fully deploy it without destroying the most valuable part of their business! https://t.co/jtq25LXdkj

There are precious few humans with the ability to crack a joke, no less make one up. Undoubtedly this type of AI will be ultra-politically correct, only coming up with the most non offensive jokes possible. Computer intelligence should not be so complex that it matches and replicates human brain function. Where is the need for that? While I concede humanity is getting dumber by the election, we still have to be in charge just because of the apocalyptic ramifications of a sentient intelligence with the ability to wipe us out.
“Google may be only a year or two away from total disruption,” Gmail developer Paul Buchheit, 45, tweeted on December 1. “AI will eliminate the search engine result page, which is where they make most of their money.”
“Even if they catch up on AI, they can’t fully deploy it without destroying the most valuable part of their business!” Buchheit said, noting that AI will do to web search what Google did to the Yellow Pages.
This is certainly bad news for anyone hoping for the resurrection of “Hey Jeeves”, or “Hotbot”. If Google, which has become so synonymous with information that it has become an actual verb, is rendered obsolete, how long before your brother-in-law Jeff is no longer needed down at the factory? Even worse, how long before no one that bleeds and breathes is needed for anything? Where does that leave us as a species? Likely being whipped by tyrannical apes on horseback is the answer.
ChatGPT has also demonstrated a human knack for abstract thinking. One disillusioned Twitter user prompted the AI with the command: “write a haiku from the perspective of a copywriter who is feeling sad that AI might diminish the value of the written word.”
ChatGPT responded: “Words on a screen, now just a blur, machine takes the pen.”
I know precious few humans with an actual ability for abstract thinking, now we have AI that can create poems and haikus. It’s a terrifying future folks. We need to stop playing in Gods back yard. Perhaps VHS tapes and rotary phones are the answer. I may dust off my old Tandy computer with no operating system and get prepared to fight AI for the future of humanity. I’ll need some help getting it set up, I wonder if I can Google that?
