A state lawmaker from Virginia who was tossed in the clink for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a 17-year-old he later married, is now running to replace a congressman who passed away toward the end of last year, according to papers filed with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday. And go figure, he’s a Democrat. And they wonder why so many of us think they are attempting to normalize pedophilia and other forms of sexual perversion concerning children? Really?
According to The Daily Wire, “State Sen. Joe Morrissey’s entry in the race to succeed Rep. Don McEachin has raised eyebrows in a state where Democrats have battled the perception that they are soft on the sexualization of children, following controversies including the Loudoun County rape and efforts to bring graphic sex education to young schoolkids.”
“Morrissey, a twice-disbarred lawyer, was indicted in 2014 on a slew of charges resulting from his alleged affair with a 17-year-old staffer. Charges against Morrissey, who was in his fifties at the time, included four felonies: supervisory indecent liberties with a minor, electronic solicitation of a minor, possession of child pornography, and distribution of child pornography, NBC-12 reported,” Luke Rosiak wrote for the news outlet.
The young girl was working part-time as a clerk at his law office, having listed her age as being 22 on her job application. Wow. This young lady is a mess even without the involvement of Morrissey. That’s not an excuse for his behavior. In fact, it’s further condemnation of his actions. Anyway, prosecutors think that he knew the girl was younger when the two of them had sex. Morrissey accepted a plea deal which resulted in a conviction for a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, along with six months behind bars.
Morrissey got the young woman pregnant and then married her.
“Morrissey’s brush with the law won’t be the only issue to give pause to conservative parents. In 2020, he was the only Senate co-sponsor of a bill that could have caused parents to lose custody of their children if they did not ‘affirm’ their transgender identities. It redefined the term ‘abused or neglected child’ to include one whose parent ‘inflicts… mental injury on the basis of the child’s gender identity or sexual orientation,'” Rosiak’s report read.
“This year, its House of Delegates sponsor, Elizabeth Guzman, described her intent to try again with a similar bill, explaining to local news that it would make it a crime not to affirm gender identity. Guzman told WJLA that ‘It could be a felony, it could be a misdemeanor,'” the Daily Wire said.
David Gordon, a GOP political consultant who established the Virginia Project, went on to say that the possibility of Morrissey getting a promotion illustrates that “child exploitation is not an obstacle for Democrats.”
“Given his history, I was very surprised to see him double down on the sexual exploitation of children by cosponsoring the notorious Guzman child abduction bill,” Gordon said during an interview with The Daily Wire.
If Morrissey somehow manages to win the congressional seat, it wouldn’t be the first time he nabbed a special election victory. Not long after his conviction, he resigned his seat as a state delegate, which then triggered a special election. Morrissey then entered that race as an independent and managed to win, casting votes in the General Assembly while he was still serving time as part of his work release program.
Unbelievable, isn’t it? The Democratic Party is really and truly morally bankrupt.
“In the 2019 election, he won a state Senate seat as a Democrat, and ‘has since made criminal justice reform a signature part of the legislation he has introduced,’ the Richmond Free Press reported. Former Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam pardoned Morrissey as one of his last acts in office this year, the paper said in January,” Rosiak wrote.
Let’s hope this guy loses by a substantial amount of votes. It’s ridiculous that he’s even running given his criminal past, but what’s all the more maddening is that he actually has a chance of winning.
