Former President Donald Trump, who is currently ramping up his 2024 presidential campaign — seems really early, but the real estate mogul is determined to fire up his base and keep them that way all the way up until the primary — got a whole lot of good news after a Trafalgar Group poll found he’s ahead of potential challengers for the GOP nomination by double-digits. Why might this be, considering there are likely going to be some other really good candidates who toss their hat in the ring for the presidency? People like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for example.
Well, for starters, a lot of people feel that Trump had his second term stolen from him in a rigged election. Whether or not that is true is irrelevant. A lot of his base believe it, and thus they feel he deserves another chance at the big dance. Along with this, there’s the fact that the radical left hates the former president with the intensity of a thousand burning suns, thus, the best way for the American people to stick it to the Democrats is by electing him for another term. And, of course, his agenda is one that places America first, which is exactly what conservative voters are looking for.
When you combine all of that together you start to understand why Trump is so far ahead of the competition.
According to Breitbart, the survey asked those who participated, “If the Republican presidential primary were held today and the following were the candidates, for whom would you most likely vote?”
“Trump stood as the overwhelming favorite, garnering 43.4 percent support. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) falls 15.6 percent behind with 27.8 percent support. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) fell to third with 14.3 percent support, followed by former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley with 11.6 percent, former Vice President Mike Pence with 1.8 percent, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with 1.1 percent,” the report continued.

“When DeSantis is taken out of the mix, Trump’s support grows to 47.9 percent, and Scott and Haley surge, garnering 22.8 percent and 21.1 percent, respectively,” Breitbart noted. “The survey was taken January 24-26, 2023, among 1,078 likely GOP presidential primary voters. It has a +/- 2.9 percent margin of error.”
The news from this poll coincides with a recent campaign stop Trump made in South Carolina over the weekend. He also did some campaigning in New Hampshire as well.
The former president held a campaign event in S.C. with Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican senator from the state, Gov. Henry McMaster, and Rep. Russell Fry, also a member of the GOP.
“I’m thrilled to be back in the great state of South Carolina, we won it twice by record numbers, and it’s just a real honor. It’s an incredible place,” Trump went on to say during the event, explaining that his campaign will be “about the future.”
“This campaign will be about issues, ” Trump expounded. “Joe Biden has put America on the fast track to ruin and destruction, and we will ensure that he does not receive four more years.”
He then stated, “The 2024 election is our one shot to save our country, and we need a leader who is ready to do that on day one. We need a fighter who can stand up to the left, who can stand up to the swamp, stand up to the media, stand up to the deep state … am I allowed to say stand up to the RINOs too?”
