California Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein has announced she will not be seeking reelection in 2024. There have been rumors swirling around for some time now that she wouldn’t be giving her office another shot as several high-profile Democrats have dropped big hints they would be tossing their hat in the ring for the seat come election time.
“I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024 but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends,” the senator stated in a tweet.
I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024 but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends. Even with a divided Congress, we can still pass bills that will improve lives.

“Even with a divided Congress, we can still pass bills that will improve lives,” Feinstein later tweeted. Okay, listen. We do not need more legislation to make people’s lives better. We need less. What America needs more than anything is a smaller government that doesn’t shove all kinds of legislation through in order to create a bloated bureaucracy that lines the pockets of politicians. Get the government out of the way and let Americans live their lives in peace. You’ll be surprised how much we thrive.
“At the age of 89, Feinstein is the Senate’s oldest member, and in recent years her colleagues have raised concerns about her mental fitness. Other Democrats have already announced campaigns for her seat, including Reps. Adam Schiff and Katie Porter. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) is also widely expected to join the race. Earlier this month, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) endorsed Schiff for the Senate seat if Feinstein chose not to seek re-election in 2024,” the Daily Wire reported.
Pelosi, who is currently still a member of the House of Representatives after having vacated the office of Speaker, heaped praise on Feinstein, referring to her as an iconic senator with a “remarkable legislative record.”
“After Feinstein’s announcement, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) reportedly called her a “legend” and praised the senator for her work over the years on issues including gun safety reform, the environment, and women’s rights,” the report said.
You know what strikes me as hilarious?
Everyone is so worried about Feinstein’s mental fitness, yet those same individuals try their best to avoid that same topic when it comes to President Joe Biden. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but having a president with advanced cognitive decline is a much more serious and dangerous matter than a senator suffering from the same condition, right?
One has the launch codes to the nuclear football, while the other does not. I think that says everything that needs to be said right there. Less worrying about Feinstein, more concerning about Biden and his own condition. Perhaps if that sort of switch in perspective were to take place, we could get Biden to submit to a cognitive test and find out for sure if there actually is something going haywire in the man’s brain?
I wouldn’t hold my breath for that, however. The left is doing everything possible to avoid that scenario. It seems they might seriously be considering running Biden again for 2024, despite his abysmal record in the Oval Office.
