James Cameron, director of Titanic, Terminator 2, and Avatar 2: The Way of Water, who is also a diehard climate change activist, recently stated he can totally “relate to” Marvel Studios big baddie, Thanos and his plan to kill billions and billions of people and other creatures for the sake of population control and the distribution of resources. Spoken like a true leftist lunatic, right? Yikes.
In the film Avengers: Infinity War and it’s sequel, Avengers: Endgame, Thanos wanted to wipe out half of all life in the universe in order to help preserve its finite resources, which ended up sort of being an allegory for climate change extremism. However, Cameron can relate to Thanos’ plan.
“I can relate to Thanos,” Cameron stated during an interview with Time. “I thought he had a pretty viable answer. The problem is nobody is going to put up their hand to volunteer to be the half that has to go.”
According to Breitbart, the publication did not offer any clarification of what Cameron said was a joke or not. But given his radical left-wing politics, it wouldn’t be surprising for him to have meant every word.
“Cameron statement comes after his Avatar: The Way of Water grossed over $2 billion, further adding to his (much-deserved) reputation as the most bankable director in Hollywood history. Over the years, the director has not been shy to share his beliefs about climate change, which his beloved franchise seeks to explore. In December of last year, Cameron also decried what he called a growing surge in gun violence, adding that he edited 10 minutes out of the Avatar sequel to limit the display of guns,” Breitbart reported.
“I’m happy to be living in New Zealand where they just banned all assault rifles two weeks after that horrific mosque shooting a couple of years ago,” he said while giving an interview to Esquire.
“I actually cut about 10 minutes of the movie targeting gunplay action,” he added. “I wanted to get rid of some of the ugliness, to find a balance between light and dark. You have to have conflict, of course. Violence and action are the same thing, depending on how you look at it. This is the dilemma of every action filmmaker, and I’m known as an action filmmaker.”
Cameron went so far as to say that due to his current take on guns, he could not make some of the films he made in the past.
“I look back on some films that I’ve made, and I don’t know if I would want to make that film now,” he explained. “I don’t know if I would want to fetishize the gun, like I did on a couple of Terminator movies 30-plus years ago, in our current world. What’s happening with guns in our society turns my stomach.”
It’s pretty horrific to say that you would support the wiping out of half of the population for the sake of managing resources. The reason that was made the mission of the bad guy in those films is because it’s a horrific idea. It’s insane. No one in their right mind would agree with such a plan. The fact that Cameron does speaks volumes about his lack of moral character.
