Greg Gutfeld has risen to the top of the late-night heap not by pandering or making cheap jokes, or even doing lame skits like Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon. Greg Gutfeld has staked his claim by being funny, telling the truth, and not being afraid to say things that many others are afraid to for fear of cancellation. Audiences have noticed, and his ratings reflect it.
Turns out that voters, much like audiences, will eventually get fed up and change the channel. Rather, they will vote you out. That was exactly what happened to America’s worst mayor, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. In Gutfeld’s monologue Wednesday, he eviscerated the failed Chicago Mayor. Check this out.
Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld blasted Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on his show opening monologue by stating that she “Broke another glass ceiling” by being the “worst mayor ever” and also the first Mayor to lose reelection in 40 years after its first 2-year period in the emblematic windy city of Illinois.
For one, Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot, became Chicago’s first incumbent mayor in 40 years to lose re-election. Congrats, Lori. She deserves it because she broke another glass ceiling. She was the first black lesbian mayor of Chicago, but now she’s the worst mayor ever, which sadly means no black lesbian mayors for awhile in Chicago. Way to ruin it for them.
Of course, Lightfoot blamed racism and misogyny, because after being elected in 2019, apparently Chicago has become overrun with white supremacists and homophobes. This is a ridiculous assertion by the failed mayor, as a black man, Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson actually got more votes than she did and will move onto the runoff.
Under Lightfoot, Chicago has gone from bad to worse. Violent crime, joblessness and homelessness have spiked. Residents are fed up, and she is not getting a second term because of ineffectiveness, not race or her sexual proclivity. Gutfeld continued:
But why is it news at all? It shouldn’t be news when the worst mayor in the country loses. This should be expected. But it wasn’t. Why is that? Well, it’s because it’s news that she lost despite having more protection than a Fort Knox full of condoms. Lightfoot was a historical first, of course. First Black female lesbian Chicago mayor. Perhaps also a garden gnome, a woodland nymph, a magical imp, a Ghost of Christmas Past, Medusa. But because of that, the media cut her more slack than a tailor on meth.
Lightfoot hilariously and misleadingly tried to defend her failed tenure.
“We fought the right fights and we put this city on a better path. I’m grateful that we’ve worked together to remove a record number of guns off our streets, reduced homicides, and started making real progress on public safety.“
The is misleading of course. The crime rates have risen under her administration to historic highs. They only went down in 2022 by a small margin compared to 2021. In that year only, the City saw approximately 770 murders, a 50% increase over 2019. According to the Chicago Tribune, the city reached 800 killings in 2021, breaking a 25-year record. It was so bad that Lightfoot actually employed around-the-clock security, despite living in a supposed “good” part of town.
Gutfeld also called this out by saying: “So she reduced murders under her watch, but only after she presided over an explosion in murders under her watch?”
“I’m a black woman in America. Of course.” Lightfoot responded when asked whether she was treated differently because of her ethnicity and gender.
Typical from the left. They rarely accept responsibility for their own failings. It is far more convenient to blame Trump or covid or racism, or the GOP than to look in the mirror and blame your own failed policy. I wouldn’t look in the mirror either if I were her, but that is just me being mean. Hopefully whoever wins the runoff can start the long process of fixing what Lightfoot broke, and make Chicago a little less of a Midwestern hellscape.
