Hollywood is not exactly the place to be if you want to profess your faith in Jesus Christ. Disney isn’t exactly the company to be working for either if you want to be an outspoken champion for your Lord and Savior. For Joshua Bassett, star of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” the time and place was exactly right for him to profess his faith, give a powerful testimony and deliver an important message to kids watching everywhere. Check this out.
Joshua Bassett, star of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” firmly declared his Christian faith while giving a speech at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Saturday.
The 22-year-old Disney star was accepting the award for “Favorite Male TV star” of a kids’ show when he made the declaration of faith. Bassett began by thanking his fans and the cast and crew. He continued saying, “I’d love to thank my Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Bassett could have stopped there and continued on thanking his fans, family, and agent but he didn’t. Despite KNOWING there would likely be blowback, especially since Bassett has confirmed he is gay, the courageous young actor doubled down and floored the crowd.

“I want to say something. There are a lot of people here who are burdened, broken-hearted, and have been beaten down by life,” the “High School Musical” actor said.
“I’m here to tell you: for those of you who’ve lost hope, there’s a very real God who loves you more than you will ever possibly know,” Bassett continued. “His promise is peace and my testimony is my healing.”
“Remember: Forgive quickly, love freely and walk courageously,” Bassett concluded. “Love always wins in the end.”
That is a powerful testimony from someone who has lived what he is talking about. Bassett fearlessly conveyed his message, one that is not popular amongst Hollywood, Disney and the left. He has plenty of experience with the struggles of being a child star, and how God can pull you out of any abyss if you lean into his love.

Bassett was baptized at Bethel Church, a non-denominational church in Redding, California. In a video he is seen saying:
“My name is Joshua Bassett,” the actor can be heard saying. “Long story short, I grew up Christian and I ran the other way, as far as I could go, in pursuit of the ‘truth.’”
“That only ended in addiction, depression, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, et cetera,” the “Better Nate Than Never” alum continued. “No other teacher gave me anywhere near the peace that Jesus Christ did.”
“I’m here to publicly declare him as my Lord and savior,”
It remains to be seen if the left and the cancel culture machine will do to Bassett what they have done to so many before him that dared stray from the approved narrative. Even if they do, it appears Joshua Bassett will be just fine. He has a strong testimony, has been through numerous challenges and come out the other side with his faith intact. People like that tend to be uncancelable in a more important way. While Hollywood might take away what he has earned, God will not, and he has that to fall back on.
