Russia really seems to be growing more and more aggressive toward the United States, as two of the country’s fighter jets were reportedly in the midst of harassing a U.S. military drone that was flying over international waters Tuesday morning when one of them collided with it, forcing the drone to crash into the Black Sea. So, is Russia going to reimburse our military for the cost of that drone or what? Seems fair considering the incident was entirely their fault.
“At approximately 7:03 AM (CET), one of the Russian Su-27 aircraft struck the propeller of the MQ-9, causing U.S. forces to have to bring the MQ-9 down in international waters,” US Air Force Gen. James B.Hecker, commander, U.S. Air Forces Europe and Air Forces Africa went on to say in a statement, according to the Daily Wire.
“Several times before the collision, the Su-27s dumped fuel on and flew in front of the MQ-9 in a reckless, environmentally unsound and unprofessional manner,” he explained. “This incident demonstrates a lack of competence in addition to being unsafe and unprofessional.”
The Daily Mail reported that “One Western source said earlier that an investigation was underway to check whether the drone had been shot down. It was quickly clarified that a collision had occurred between a US-made MQ-9 Reaper and a Russian Su-27 fighter jet at 7:03am CET (2:03am ET).It was not immediately clear why the drone was operating in the region.”
Lara Seligman of Politico went on to quote the U.S. European Command as saying that the Su-27s had dumped their fuel and then flew in front of the drone.
The quote said, “This incident demonstrates a lack of competence.”
Several analysts have weighed in on the possible motive for the harassment and ultimate downing of the craft, stating that Russian forces could have been attempting to force the drone down so that they could retrieve its data.
There’s been a lot of stuff happening on the geopolitical stage lately, hasn’t there? We’ve had Chinese spy balloons flying over our country, getting peeks at many of our military installations across half the United States. On top of that, Russian aggression has been increasing greatly with each and every helping hand we give Ukraine in the skirmish between the two countries.
With all of the tension mounting between us, China, and Russia, we need to have leadership in office that we can feel confident will be able to guide us through the current landscape without causing a third World War. Completing such a mission requires someone with superior negotiating skills, a grasp of foreign policy, diplomacy, and a steel backbone.
None of these would be used to describe President Joe Biden. Not a single one. Heck, Biden doesn’t even know what day of the week it is, let alone how to navigate the world through a global crisis.
However, I can think of a certain former president who possessed those kind of skills and flexed a whole lot of muscle on the world stage that helped keep even the worst offenders — like Kim Jong Un — from getting squirrley. We could sure use him — or at least someone in a similar vein — in the White House right about now.
