Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis came out on Monday with a response to the rumors that former President Donald Trump is set to be arrested and indicted this week, referring to the situation as a “manufactured circus” by a prosecutor who is “trying to virtue signal for his base.” This is what we need to see more of in the modern GOP. True conservatives standing up for one another against the attacks of our actual opponents, the individuals working tirelessly to destroy everything we stand for, everything we love, about the greatest nation to grace the planet earth.
DeSantis’ comments come hot on the heels of a statement made by the former president over the weekend where he said he would be arrested on Tuesday as part of a prosecution being led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office concerning an alleged hush-money payment that was made to porn actress Stormy Daniels back in 2016. A spokesperson for Trump went on to say that the former president has not received any sort of notification that he is for sure going to be taken into custody.
“I’ve seen rumors swirl. I have not seen any facts yet,” DeSantis remarked during a press conference. “And so I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I do know this, the Manhattan district attorney, is a Soros-funded prosecutor. And so he like other Soros funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety. He has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors, he says he doesn’t want to even have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes. And what we’ve seen in Manhattan is we’ve seen the crime rate go up, and we’ve seen citizens become less safe.”
DeSantis then said that Bragg was “weaponizing” the justice system by opting to pursue this case, which stemmed from years ago, while “ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction.” Man, that line right there is straight fire, as the kids say today.
“And I think that that’s fundamentally wrong,” DeSantis said, according to the Daily Wire’s report. “I also think it’s important to point out when you’re talking about these Soros funded prosecutors, yes, they may do a high profile politicized prosecution. And that’s bad.”
“DeSantis said big-city prosecutors who benefited from Soros campaign donations have contributed to a rise in crime as they pursue political agendas instead of fighting crime which has led to ordinary Americans being hurt,” the report continued.
DeSantis then went on to state that he’s the only governor in the nation who has removed a Soros prosecutor from office, which is a reference to suspending State Attorney Andrew Warren of the 13th Judicial Circuit last summer.
“We are not involved in this, won’t be involved in this,” the Florida Republican commented. “I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA. He’s trying to do a political spectacle. He’s trying to virtue signal for his base.”
DeSantis isn’t the only one coming out against Bragg. Trump’s former vice president, Mike Pence, also took an opportunity to toss a verbal jab in the prosecutor’s direction.
“I’m taken aback at the idea of indicting a former President of the United States, at a time when there’s a crime wave in New York City, that — the fact that the Manhattan DA thinks that indicting President Trump is his top priority, I think is, just tells you everything you need to know about the radical left in this country,” Pence said in an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issues a strong statement against the Soros-backed DA pursuing charges against Donald Trump in what is clearly a politically motivated attack. This is class.

“Trump’s claim that he was going to be arrested came after a report from NBC News said federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies were analyzing security assessments and making plans to prepare for the possibility that he could be indicted, but no exact date was given in the report,” the Daily Wire said.
The cases concerns an alleged payment the former president made to Stormy Daniels through his attorney at the time, Michael Cohen, who has confessed to passing the money on to the porn star during the 2016 presidential campaign in order for her to keep quiet about the alleged affair between the two. Cohen has pleaded guilty to related charges and then served some time behind bars.
