Acting New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan has been chosen to preside over the alleged hush money prosecution of former President Donald Trump, despite the fact Merchan has a deep, long history of making rulings against Trump’s associates. You know, the Constitution guarantees the right to a fair trial. Does it really seem like the Sixth Amendment is really being kept if the judge presiding over the former president’s case clearly doesn’t like him on a personal level? I don’t think so.
The case in question involves an alleged hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election. The case is clearly politically motivated seeing as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is the man who is prosecuting the case, has earned a reputation for being soft on crime and also having been bank rolled by infamous progressive billionaire George Soros.
“Trump contended last week that Merchan was ‘hand picked’ by Bragg to preside over the case and said that Merchan ‘hates’ him in a post to his social media platform Truth Social. Another all-caps post to Truth Social on Tuesday morning asserted that Merchan is ‘highly partisan’ and contended that his family is composed of ‘well known Trump haters,'” the Daily Wire reported.
“Merchan, a Colombian-born immigrant who moved to the United States as a 6-year-old, earned a law degree from Hofstra University in 1994, according to a report from the Associated Press. He served in the state attorney general’s office before his 2006 appointment by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg as a family court judge. Merchan has worked as an acting justice on the New York Supreme Court since 2009,” the report continued.
“Merchan ruled against the Trump Organization earlier this year, finding the real estate conglomerate guilty of 17 charges related to a years-long tax evasion scheme under which the firm distributed various gifts and perks to executives. He imposed a $1.6 million fine, the legal maximum, against the company,” it added.
Again, how can Trump possibly be treated fairly if they already have a judge that is notorious for ruling against the man’s friends and company? Surely this is a conflict of interest. If you don’t think the radical left is working hard right now to try and ensure the former president is disqualified from running against Biden in the 2024 presidential election, you better pull your head out of the dark, moist body cavity it’s currently lodged in and take a look around.
The former chief financial officer of the company, Allen Weisselberg, said, “heck yes,” to a plea deal with prosecutors, going on to offer up testimony against the company during the trial. The 75-year-old was handed a five month prison by Merchan, which he is in the process of serving as we speak, having pleaded guilty to 15 criminal charges at the end of 2022.
“I believe that a stiffer sentence would be appropriate, having heard the evidence,” Merchan fired off, according to a report published by POLITICO.
“Trump himself will reportedly be charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, all of which are the lowest-level felonies in the state but each of which carries as many as four years in prison per charge. Merchan issued a ruling that denied a request by a coalition of news outlets for video coverage, but he will allow photographers to take still photos of the 76-year-old Trump before the Tuesday arraignment begins,” the Daily Wire said.
It’s also possible that Merchan could slap Trump with a gag order, which would then prevent the former president from being able to discuss the details of the case. Trump is currently planning, as of this writing, to give a speech concerning the arraignment on Tuesday evening.
