Former President Donald Trump recently provided a response to the news that broke on Monday concerning Fox News and their most popular prime time host, Tucker Carlson, parting ways, before going on to offer some comments concerning the bad blood boiling between himself and Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, in an interview with Newsmax host Greg Kelly.
“Well, I’m shocked, I’m surprised,” Trump stated in response to Carlson being ousted from the right-of-center publication. “He’s a very good person, a very good man, and very talented, as you know, and he had very high ratings.”
According to the Daily Wire, Trump went on to say in the interview that he doesn’t know if Carlson’s exit from the network was voluntary or if he was fired, speculating that maybe Carlson “wants free rein, maybe.”
On Monday, Fox News issued a statement saying that they and Carlson “agreed to part ways,” noting there would be no farewell program, stating the last episode of the insanely popular prime time news program was last Friday.
“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the statement read, going on to add that “Fox News Tonight” would air live at 8 p.m. ET as an interim show which would be helmed by “rotating” network hosts until someone permanent was chosen to fill the spot.
Carlson closed out the last episode of his program by telling the audience he would be back on Monday, so it doesn’t seem that the departure was expected. As of the writing of this article, Carlson has not released a statement of his own about the situation.
Sources that are apparently close to the situation spoke with The Los Angeles Times saying that the decision to push Carlson and his producer, Justin Wells, out of the network came down from Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch. They also revealed that Carlson’s exit was related to a discrimination lawsuit that was filed by Abby Grossberg, who is a former producer for the news outlet.
Later in the same interview, the former president chatted about the upcoming presidential election and on his feud with Gov. DeSantis, who is expected to announce his own intentions for the White House next month.

“Right now, I’m very down on him,” Trump said, speaking of DeSantis.
Trump then revealed that the reason he’s upset with DeSantis is due to the fact that he looks at the possibility of DeSantis joining the presidential race as a betrayal due to the fact that he endorsed him as the governor of Florida.
“A lot of people said loyalty doesn’t mean anything. To me, loyalty means a lot,” Trump explained.
At the end of the day, our nation would be blessed to have either man at the helm, so the way I see it, we can’t lose if both run. No doubt one of the two of them will be the GOP nominee. Who, exactly, that turns out to be is anybody’s guess, though Trump clearly holds the lead in the vast majority of polls that are currently being produced.
