Fox News might have made the single greatest mistake in the history of the company when they decided it was a good idea to boot their cash cow, Tucker Carlson, the most watched host on their network, as they are now experiencing a really big dip in the network’s ratings. Many folks are switching over to other platforms for their news coverage, believing the whole mess with Carlson to be politically motivated, an attempt at censoring the popular conservative pundit for daring to go against the mainstream media narrative without an ounce of fear or trepidation.
“Carlson’s first replacement host, Brian Kilmeade, performed better earlier in the week, netting 2.59 million viewers Monday. However, he suffered a significant viewership decline Tuesday, managing only 1.7 million viewers. By Wednesday, Kilmeade netted just 1.3 million, while MSNBC host Chris Hayes notched 1.38 million viewers the same night,” the Daily Caller reported.
“Fox News averaged 3.25 million viewers in the same time slot with Carlson at the helm. Carlson’s show, ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight,’ was the second highest-rated show on cable news, only behind Fox News’ ‘The Five,'” the report continued. “Fox News lost to other 8 p.m. cable shows in the 25-54 demographic. MSNBC and CNN drew in 167,000 and 139,000, respectively. Fox News drew in 124,000 during the same hour.”

So just how bad, really, is this plummet in ratings? Well, it’s the worst one the network has experienced during a non-holiday period since September 11. I mean, that was a long, long time ago and that’s a pretty good track record for staying on top of the news business, but all it takes for the mighty to fall is one bad step. Could this be the one that sends Fox News down in a ball of fire?
It’s possible, though not probable. However, they do have a formidable challenger to their top dog status in the world of mainstream news.
“Newsmax, a Fox News competitor, has seen their ratings increase in the aftermath of Carlson’s departure. Eric Bolling’s 8 p.m. Newsmax show brought in 562,000 viewers Tuesday. Boling earned 146,000 viewers a week earlier,” the Daily Caller said in its conclusion. “Tucker Carlson broke his silence Wednesday in a video that netted 62.7 million views, more than the entirety of Fox News’ programs.”
I think this is really going to turn a lot of viewers off from the idea of getting their news coverage and analysis from a big organization. Honestly, it might be the straw that broke the camel’s back in that regard. The MSM has been hemorrhaging viewers for a long, long time now, as it’s become clear they no longer believe in journalistic integrity and serving people with facts they need to make sound decisions politically.
Alternative media has been on the rise forever, despite the best efforts of social media and tech companies attempting to silence it. However, alternative media is inevitable. Better to embrace the madness and use it to our advantage than not take this golden opportunity to spread important information to people who are starving for it and have a real impact on the country.
