Feminism has lied to generations of women, especially those alive today, by saying that in order for a woman to have value, she needs to be exactly like a man. If a woman is not working hard to eliminate the differences between males and females of the human race, she’s wasting her life. Dare she actually embrace the unique way God has created her, she is considered to be a traitor to her gender.
Well, a story recently published by PEOPLE proves that is all complete and utter nonsense. A woman does not have to be like a man in order to be strong, smart, or have value.
Abby Bailiff, 28, recently made an appearance on Good Morning America, where she talked about how she was due to give birth to a baby boy, Bodie, on April 27, which was a week before her May 4 graduation from UNC Greensboro School of Nursing. However, it seems God, the sovereign ruler of the cosmos, had other plans.
As the day of her due date came and went, Bailif told the hosts of the program that she started to get anxious, going on to say, “Every day past 40 weeks I was like, ‘Oh gosh. This is getting closer and closer.’”
“She added that doctors then became worried about the development of her baby’s lungs, so she was induced for pregnancy on May 2, just two days short of her graduation,” PEOPLE reported.
“It was not the original plan to be that close to graduation … but Bodie had other plans,” she stated while sharing her story.
Bailiff finally gave birth to her baby boy on May 3, at 3:08 p.m., without experiencing any complications and staying at the hospital for the night. She was discharged the following morning, which was the day she was due to graduate, a ceremony that was scheduled for 3 p.m.
“I was still debating on whether I was going or not, because I didn’t want to be, like, a bad mom and just up and leave him right when I got home,” Bailiff said during her appearance on GMA.
“But around 1:30, I was like, ‘I think I should really do this.’ My sister and mom were here, and they were like, ‘Well, let’s get you ready,'” she added.
Although she gave birth to Bodie just 24 hours before, Bailiff ended up making it to her graduation ceremony on time and somehow found the physical energy and strength to walk across the stage and receive her diploma from the doctor of nursing practice program, while her hubby and new baby watched through FaceTime.
“Once I got there and I walked in, I was like, I’m so glad I came,” Bailiff, who finished the three-year program while also working as a registered nurse. “It was an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment. I can’t even describe the feeling I felt. I was just overjoyed.”
Bailiff’s sister posted a video of the whole thing on TikTok and it went viral.
She said she was really moved by the support and reaction people had to her story.
“At the moment, I was just like, I’ll just go and do it, and then when my sister made the video, it just kind of put everything in perspective,” Bailiff commented on the response she received for the video.
“I just felt like a superhero,” she remarked. “Women are just so capable of doing whatever we can to accomplish our goals and still be a mom and still have career goals as well. So, it was really cool to watch.”
Right on, sister.
Bailiff is a great example of how a woman can totally embrace having a career while also being a mother, deflating the idea that a person has to choose one or the other. Many women attempt to justify getting abortions for this very reason. Clearly, it’s not true. You don’t have to give up your dreams to take care of a child. You just have to be willing to work hard and sacrifice, then you will succeed.
