Some would-be carjackers found out real quick that their choice of victim was a massive mistake, having chosen a concealed carrier outside a mall in Chicago, who flipped the script on the robbers by pulling a weapon of his own and returning fire. One of the suspects was wounded during the exchange.
Local media outlet WBBM-TV reported that the incident happened outside Ross clothing store located at the Ford City Mall on Chicago’s southwest side, according to TheBlaze.
“Police said two suspects approached the 24-year-old victim, and one of the suspects pulled a handgun and fired, WLS-TV reported. However, the victim — whom police said is a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification Card and concealed carry license holder — returned fire and shot one of the suspects in the thigh, police told WLS,” the report said.
Both suspects were taken into custody on Sunday evening, according to local law enforcement.
On Tuesday morning, police revealed that 21-year-old Anton Cheeks and 18-year-old Travell Quadir Deal have been charged with attempted vehicular carjacking and are due to appear in bond court on Tuesday.
There have been a number of similar reports made in 2023 about crime victims making use of the Second Amendment as a means of defending themselves from thugs who are looking for easy victims to steal from.
Here’s more:
- In April, a Chicago concealed carrier shot an 18-year-old male who was trying to break into a business.
- Also in April, the manager of an auto parts store in the neighborhood of Calumet Heights fatally shot a man who tried to rob the business; the store manager has a concealed carry license.
- In January, an armed crook tried to rob a man on a Chicago train — but it turned out the victim was a concealed carrier who pulled his own gun and shot the suspect.
The case concerning the concealed carrier who shot the 18-year-old attempting to break into his business, the man was inside the business when he heard a noise coming from the back door of the establishment, around 11:50 p.m. When he went to check things out, he discovered the teenage male trying to gain entry to the business.
The 40-year-old pulled a gun and fired a round, wounding the young man in the leg, according to police officials. The suspect in the case was immediately transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
This partially why the Second Amendment exists. The whole point of owning a firearm is so that you can have the means necessary to protect your life, liberty, and property from those who want to take it away from you. Stealing is a form of tyranny, as someone else is attempting to oppress you and take what you earned without permission.
It’s critical Americans fight for the right to own firearms, as that is what gives us the permission to have guns in our homes for the sake of not only self-protection, but to ensure that if the government ever attempts to take away our rights, we have the ability to fight back.
