A man in South Carolina was taken into police custody after he allegedly robbed a convenience store, which probably doesn’t like something that should be a national news maker, except for the fact he used a fake gun made from the old 1980s Nintendo Zapper most popularly used to play Duck Hunt. Yeah, this really happened. It’s a crazy time we’re living in, wouldn’t you agree?
The York County Sheriff’s Office revealed that David Joseph Dalesandro was arrested after he used the toy gun, which he spray painted, to rob the Kwik Stop located in the town of Sharon, South Carolina. I mean, the guy is obviously an idiot, but he’s a creative idiot. He deserves an “A” for that, right?
“At approximately 5:45 p.m. on May 30, 2023, a person went into the store wearing a mask, wig, and a hoodie sweatshirt, according to witnesses. The person then brandished the fake pistol in the waistband of his pants, then demanded money from the store clerk’s cash register. The suspect left the store with $300,” TheBlaze said.
“Deputies apprehended Dalesandro in the parking lot of a Dollar General down the road from the convenience store, on York Street in Sharon, South Carolina. Law enforcement reportedly found the video game gun in the suspect’s pants,” the report continued.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the York County Detention Center.
Back in 2014, another man from South Carolina was busted for trying to commit a similar crime, including the use of a toy gun. What is it with the criminals in this state? The suspect in that case was a 20-year-old male who robbed a Family Dollar store, walking away with $500. Why in the world would you hold up a Family Dollar store, knowing you’re not really going to get any money for your trouble? Is that really worth going to prison over?
“The man allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle but ditched his car to escape with the money on foot after a short pursuit. A deputy reportedly caught the man and arrested him for possession of a weapon during a violent crime and armed robbery,” TheBlaze said.
The suspect tossed his weapon into some bushes. Police discovered it later and quickly determined that it wasn’t real and was only a toy. I mean, at the end of the day, that means the guy didn’t really want to hurt anyone. Given what little the man has going for him, that has to count for something, right?
“According to Giffords Law Center, South Carolina prohibits any person from possessing an air gun at any park or facility. However, the state “has no other laws regulating non-powder guns” or toy guns,'” the report concluded.
