The National Football League kicker who cinched a Super Bowl victory for the Kansas City Chiefs back in February just scored another big win, but this time it wasn’t on the football field. It was at the White House. Harrison Butker sported a tie during his recent visit to the nation’s capital that boldly displayed a pro-faith, pro-life message. This dude is everything a professional athlete should be.

“On Monday, the Chiefs, including some players and staff who have moved on to other teams or other phases of their lives, visited President Joe Biden at the White House to commemorate their second Super Bowl win in four years. While standing behind Biden, who made remarks at the podium, Butker wore a pin of tiny baby feet as well as a gray tie with the phrase ‘Vulnerari Praesidio’ stitched into it in white. Vulnerari Praesidio is Latin for ‘protect the vulnerable,'” TheBlaze reported.

“Butker, 27, has been outspoken about his Catholic faith. Shortly after the Super Bowl in February, he gave an interview with EWTN, a Catholic outlet, to discuss the role that his religion plays in his life,” the report continued.
“I’m not just making kicks so that I can make money and I can puff myself up as this great person that people want to be like one day,” he elaborated. “I’m making kicks because God wants me to have a platform, at least for right now, to share this message of faith, of growing in virtue, of growing closer to the sacraments and of being a saint.”
“I envision my life with my wife and having lots of children and being saints,” he stated. “That’s what I envision. I don’t really envision myself being in the Hall of Fame, winning more Super Bowls, getting x, y, and z records, getting that contract. It’s just not something I really think about. … All of my fantasies, you could say, are all for my family and for my children.”
Butker is the real deal when it comes to his faith. He was previously an altar server and regularly attends a traditional Latin mass. The kicker said it’s his faith that helps him to stay grounded and focused on Christ.
“I don’t allow [the fame] to get to my head and change the way I view myself because I’m a child of God,” he said. “I’m a sinner. I need a savior, I need Jesus, I need the sacraments, and prayer grounds me. And then, again, always coming back to my vocation and knowing that that job is way more important than kicking a football.”
That’s right. Butker’s actual job, his real vocation, is not being a professional athlete. God placed him here and gave him a platform to share the gospel with millions of people through football. He’s given an opportunity to be the voice for the voiceless by sticking up for the rights of the unborn. The job that takes care of his physical needs might be football, but his actual calling from God is to testify of His goodness and share his faith openly.
What’s even better is that wearing the tie might have been a subtle way of scolding President Joe Biden, who claims to also be Catholic, for his open, public support of the murder of pre-born children. The archbishop of our nation’s capital, Wilton Cardinal Gregory, has stated that Biden is “not demonstrating Catholic teaching,” with his pro-abortion position, he has decided not to excommunicate him.
If Biden were to receive a formal excommunication, the president would be banned from receiving communion during mass until he confessed and renounced support for the practice.
I totally think he deserves it and if the archbishop had a spine, that’s exactly the action he’d take.
