The left has done all it can to silence conservatives in the past few years. From policing free speech, woke social media platforms silencing conservative voices, and video platforms like YouTube banning you if you dare run afoul of the leftist narrative.
Now they are coming for the last bastion of conservatism that is still vibrant and alive with conservative voices.
Automakers have been planning to build new electric vehicles without AM radio access. While they claim “interference” between electromagnetic frequencies from their motors and AM frequencies is the reason, the real reason is much more insidious.
AM radio reaches almost 80 million people a day. AM may be the only choice in many rural areas where options are limited. The conservative movement has flourished on AM radio, and the left wants to stomp that out. They are using EVs as an excuse.
AM radio is worth keeping in our cars.
Millions of Americans listen to talk radio. It’s central to our democracy and freedom of expression. pic.twitter.com/oS86kpJJDw

AM is also important in the event of an emergency. The signal covers far more distance than FM radio does, and in the event of a natural disaster, flood, tornado, or other national security events, AM radio would be the only way to make sure all Americans are reached.
Based on this, Ted Cruz and Ed Markey are trying to do something about it.
Senators Ted Cruz and Ed Markey penned an op-ed for Fox News discussing the introduction to AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act of 2023, a bipartisan legislation that would direct federal regulators to require automakers to keep AM availability in new vehicles at no additional cost.
“There are a lot of places in the country where AM radio stations are some of the only choices people have to hear what’s going on in terms of agricultural matters, music, talk or news,” said the piece
If passed, the bill would prohibit manufacturers from removing the AM radio option from their vehicles.
Ten other senators have joined the bill, and Cruz is hoping to have bipartisan support.
Ford Motor Company, perhaps seeing the writing on the wall, has already started reversing course. Of course, it coincided with talk radio titan Mark Levin unloading on the automaker in April.
“Let’s talk about radios for a minute. Ford is the latest manufacturer that says, the future production of cars will not include the AM platform… BMW has said it,” began Levin. “
“Others have said it because it interferes with something or other. They finally figured out how to attack conservative talk radio.”
To be clear, the radical left wants to silence any and all conservative-leaning voices. Clay and Buck, Levin, Dave Ramsey, Sean Hannity, and the rest would be silenced and banished to the nether regions if leftists had their way.
It is up to consumers to continue to push for AM radio, the AM radio industry, and lawmakers Like Cruz. If automakers have the technology to build electric cars, then they can certainly figure out how to incorporate AM radio without magnetic interference. Or at least come up with an excuse that isn’t. so transparent.
Either way, AM must live on so conservatives can stay in the fight.
