Prince Harry had held high hopes about getting to interview former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin for his podcast on Spotify, and what he wanted to discuss with them was absolutely cringe. The topic in question? Childhood traumas. I mean, really? You get the insinuation here. Harry wanted to dig into the past of these men to try and figure out what made them the way they were. It’s just more narrative crafting.
“The Duke of Sussex reportedly pitched the streaming site the idea for several shows that would involve interviewing influential people like Trump, Putin, and Mark Zuckerberg about traumas they experienced as kids, Bloomberg reported,” the Daily Wire said.
“A source with direct knowledge told the outlet the idea puzzled executives, who allegedly found the royal’s pitch ‘questionable’ given the fact that people like Putin and Zuckerberg rarely give wide-ranging interviews about their upbringings and personal experiences,” the report continued.

It seems the prince also tossed out an idea where he would conduct a series of sit down interviews with Pope Francis concerning the topic of religion, along with another that would focus on fatherhood, and a third on the issue of climate change.
None of these ideas came to fruition, thankfully. However, his wife, Meghan Markle, who might just be one of the most hated public figures in the world, was allowed to do an entire season of her own show, “Archetypes.” The pair have a company, Archewell Audio, that produced a total of 12 episodes of the program, which aired from August to November of 2022.
The show’s description said, “a podcast where we investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.”
Earlier in the month of June, the prince and his bride put out a statement with Spotify stating that they mutually agreed to part ways, despite having signed a massive $20 million deal in 2020.
A representative for the WME talent agency that hired Markle previously stated, “Meghan is continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform.”
“Shortly after news surfaced that the podcast deal was canceled, Spotify executive Bill Simmons slammed the Sussexes, labeling them ‘f***ing grifters,'” the Daily Wire reported.
“I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea,” he went on to say. “It’s one of my best stories.”
The fact that anyone would want to hear these two out-of-touch rich, royal family members bloviate about topics of the day is mind-blowing. However, the audience for such content seems to have been very, very small, so I guess there might still be some hope left for humanity after all. Wait. Oh. I forgot.
Well, I would be more optimistic about that if Joe Biden wasn’t napping in the White House right now. Maybe that will change next year. We can all hope, right?
