There has been a number of scheduling shifts in the primetime block for Fox News ever since they decided to go ahead and boot former host Tucker Carlson from the network, a move that has cost them an obscene amount of money and caused significant damage to their ratings. In fact, so much damage has been done that Fox fell into second place for news programing for the first time in years.
According to a report from the Daily Caller, Ingraham, who has a program in the 10:00 p.m. slot, will now move over to Jesse Watters 7 pm spot as Watters is transferred over to the 8 pm in order to replace the vacancy left by Carlson. Long time host Sean Hannity is set to stay in his 9 p.m. slot.
“Fox News Channel has been America’s destination for news and analysis for more than 21 years and we are thrilled to debut a new lineup,” CEO Suzanne Scott went on to say in a statement. “The unique perspectives of Laura Ingraham, Jesse Watters, Sean Hannity and Greg Gutfeld will ensure our viewers have access to unrivaled coverage from our best-in-class team for years to come.”
The whole fiasco surrounding Tucker Carlson happened back in April. While it has not 100 percent been confirmed as of this writing, it seems likely that his firing was part of the settlement that Fox News reached with Dominion Voting System. However, Tucker Carlson has not allowed this to prevent him from doing his job. He started a show on Twitter, posting videos of takes on hot issues, which didn’t sit well with his former network.
Folks at Fox News have been working tirelessly to litigate Carlson’s show into oblivion, but thus far, nothing has come of their efforts. Of course, this is only further damaging the company’s reputation with viewers, which already took a massive hit when Carlson was fired.
“Carlson has since posted monologues on Twitter that far outpace Fox News’ viewership during the same time slot in comparison to views. Carlson’s first two episodes of his show garnered more than 169 million views on Twitter, with the first episode receiving more than 100 million views in two days. His monologues outperformed Fox’s broadcasts during the same time slot,” the report said in conclusion.
There isn’t a lot that Fox News can do at this point to rehabilitate its public image. Firing Tucker Carlson, who was bringing in a whopping three million viewers a night and is considered to be one of the few trusted voices in modern media, caused many to see the network as just another typical mainstream media company selling out to the progressive powers that be.
Carlson is continuing to provide people with the truth that the mainstream media is ignoring, only this time, he has absolutely no one he needs to answer to for the content he wants to produce. He has absolute freedom. And by the number of views his videos are pulling in, it seems he’s actually expanded his audience, making him the most powerful journalist on the planet.
The bottom line is Fox News needs Tucker, while Tucker does not need Fox News.
