A “gender studies” professor — can you think of a more useless course to be teaching — at the University of Cincinnati has been ordered to take free-speech training after she gave a student a zero on a final project proposal for using the phrase, “biological women.” Welcome to clown world, ladies and gentlemen.
According to TheBlaze, “The instructor, Melanie Nipper, was formally reprimanded for giving student Olivia Krolczyk zero points on her Women’s Gender Studies in Pop Culture final project proposal, the New York Post said, citing a report from the Cincinnati Enquirer.”
Krolcyzk posted a video on TikTok back in May that ended up going viral, stating that her instructor wrote, “Olivia, this is a solid proposal. However, the terms ‘biological women’ are exclusionary and are not allowed in this course as they further reinforce heteronormativity.” In the video, Krolczyk did not provide the name of her school, the instructor, or even her own last name.
During the video, she referred to receiving the zero grade as “biased” before adding that her project “is about transgenders competing in biological women’s sports. How am I supposed to do my final project if I can’t use the word ‘biological women,’ but that’s what my project is about?”
Okay, so what catches my attention about what the professor said to the student is the use of the phrase “heteronormative” and how that is apparently a bad thing. I mean, I hate to be that guy — I don’t actually, in reality I LOVE being that guy — but yes, being heterosexual is indeed normative. Like it or not. Two men or two women are incapable of procreating. They cannot create a child. The only way a human life can be conceived is through heterosexual relationships. That’s it. Period. No way around this very solid scientific fact.
Therefore, in order to ensure the human race continues, the vast majority of people are heterosexual. The relationship that helps craft life is what is normal. Everything else is abnormal, deviant, or whatever other term you would like to apply.
“In another TikTok clip, she added that she would be taking up the issue with her school’s Office for Equal Opportunity. Soon the Enquirer got an interview with Nipper, who defended giving Krolczyk a zero,“ TheBlaze said.
The professor told the Enquirer that one part of her job is to correct her students when they use “outdated terminology,” going on to add they only get slapped with a zero for an assignment, not for an a whole course. Well, I mean, they shouldn’t get a zero for a single assignment either. What other kind of course would give you such a score for using a word they considered to be “outdated?” That’s insane.
“But the Post said the Enquirer later obtained the university’s letter formally reprimanding Nipper, which indicated it would be placed in her ‘permanent records.’ In addition to completing training on the school’s free-speech policy, the letter also said Nipper must submit future syllabi for approval, the Post said,” according to TheBlaze.
“It is also understood that any other violations of UC policy may be subject to further disciplinary actions up to and including termination,” the letter went on to say. “You are reminded that as an unrepresented, unclassified ‘at will’ employee your employment may be terminated with or without cause.”
The head of the Department of Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies at the university, Ashley Currier, handed out the reprimand, sharing with the media that Nipper responded on June 19 by requesting an appeal of the decision.
Fox News stated that Krolcyzk has received a brand new grade for the project and ultimately got an A for the course.
