There are a lot of annoying climate change activists out there running amok, spewing forth equal parts stupidity and hypocrisy as they fail to live up to their own principles, but perhaps one who grates on the nerves of the general public the most is Greta Thunberg. You know, the European girl who got famous by lecturing folks twice and in some cases almost three times her age of destroying the planet and doing nothing to fix it, using the “how dare you” line that has now become a meme. Yeah, that one.
Well, according to the Daily Caller, a Swedish court found Thunberg guilty of not obeying police orders on Monday and slapped her with a truly massive fine that will no doubt send her to the poor house, if such a thing still existed. I am, of course, being sarcastic, as the fine was for 1,500 Swedish Kronor, which might sound like a lot, but in reality is only $144 U.S. dollars.
The now 20-year-old Thunberg was slapped with charges — and ultimately convicted — of disobeying orders made by law enforcement during a protest in June against Swedish oil port of Malmo, the Malmo District Court stated in a ruling handed down on Monday, according to news outlet Reuters.
Taking a look at the sheet containing the official charges, it says that Thunberg allegedly participated in a demonstration that impeded traffic and that she “refused to obey police orders to leave the site.”
“It’s correct that I was at that place on that day, and it’s correct that I received an order that I didn’t listen to,” she went on to say according to AFP, “but I want to deny the crime.”
Does this woman not sound like a complete and total snot? Nothing has changed since she first popped on the scene. Thunberg is just as insufferable and arrogant as the first time she took the stage to lecture everyone about climate change. Blech.

Thunberg attempted to justify her defiance by stating that her actions during the protest were in response to “an emergency that threatens life, health, and property.” Oh the theatrics and drama. Lots of climate activists are like this, using tactics that are theatrical in nature as a means of gaining attention for themselves and the cause they claim to be fighting for. In the case of Thunberg, it’s likely because she likes the spotlight.
“Though Thunberg’s crime is technically punishable with up to six months in jail, violators typically only receive fines, prosecutor Charlotte Ottosen told local newspaper Sydsvenskan. Following the sentencing Thunberg went right back to work, immediately participating in a sit-in protest at an oil tanker depot in Malmö, the same kind of protest that earned her the fine, Sydsvenskan reports,” the report concluded.
The truth is, despite what many liberals are still claiming, climate change is an ever-changing science and no consensus concerning its cause has been reached among scientists. We know for a fact the climate does indeed go through changes. But are these changes natural or caused by the pollution created by humanity? That’s the point of contention.
And even if it turns out that humans are the cause, we don’t have to rely on the government to help clean things up. There are ways of doing so that would actually help the environment and create jobs that would stimulate the economy. Alas, the left never wants to discuss those options because it means they cannot justify creating regulations that, ultimately, serve as taxes designed to redistribute wealth.
