Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy has finally broken his silence regarding his lengthy absence from the network, and finally, for once, it’s not because of some awful tragedy. Quite the opposite. Doocy was at home looking after his infant daughter, Bridget. Children are a blessing and it’s fantastic we live in a day and age when men can can take time away from work to spend with their babies and help their wives recover and adapt to all the changes that come along with taking care of a brand new life.
According to the Daily Caller, “Doocy returned Monday after spending time on paternity leave in late spring after his wife, Fox News congressional correspondent Hillary Vaughn, returned to work. The couple welcomed their daughter Feb. 1. The White House correspondent gushingly talked about fatherhood and presented adorable photographs of the father and daughter. The first-time father spent much of his off time playing with baby Bridget, placing her in a swimming pool, and even having aspirations for her to become a future president.
Co-workers at Fox gifted the correspondent and his wife Vaughn with a pink onesie that said, “Future President.”
“Keep an eye out for the Fox News Democracy 2060 coverage,” Doocy stated during the segment.
Here’s more from the report:
His routine included waking up at 7 a.m., giving her a bottle, and going for a walk. The baby is now eating solid food, including sweet potatoes. Doocy announced the birth of Bridget Blake Doocy in a Feb. 9 social media post. He and his wife announced they were expecting a baby girl during a “Fox & Friends” segment in September as his father, Steve Doocy, shared recipes from his cookbook.
At a White House press briefing held Jan. 3, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre joked that Doocy should name his daughter after her. Doocy replied the couple would take Jean-Pierre’s suggestion “under advisement.”
A report from People dated back when the child was first born said:
At a White House press briefing held Jan. 3, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre joked that Doocy should name his daughter after her. Doocy replied the couple would take Jean-Pierre’s suggestion “under advisement.”
“I didn’t realize this until now, but I’ve been training for motherhood my entire career by trying to get lawmakers on Capitol Hill to respond to my questions. This job isn’t much different,” the new mom told the folks over at PEOPLE. “‘Baby Bridget – can you give us a comment? Are you hungry or gassy, or both?’ Trying to get an on-the-record answer is tough!”
Apparently, Vaughn’s water broke as she was on her way to Capitol Hill, however, the new mother was prepared for that possibility.
What a great story.
With so much bad happening in our country, our culture, and our society at large, it gets easy to forget good things are going on too. A new life brought into the world is always a cause for celebration. Let’s hope that the Doocys raise her well and that she grows up to be happy, healthy, and productive.
