Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is now in full panic mode, attempting to do some serious damage control on Wednesday, offering a formal apology after the Speaker of the House of Commons heaped praise upon a Nazi veteran in the chamber while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was present. First it was black face, now his country’s government praises Nazis. Definitely not a good look for the heavily socialist nation.
According to Newsmax, Trudeau stated that Ottawa had reached out right away to Kyiv and Zelenskyy using diplomatic channels to apologize.
“Anthony Rota, who publicly acknowledged veteran Yaroslav Hunka in the House last Friday and called him a hero, quit as speaker of the chamber on Tuesday and said he bore sole responsibility for what happened. Hunka, 98, was a Polish-born Ukrainian who served in one of Adolf Hitler’s Waffen SS units during World War Two. He later emigrated to Canada,” the outlet reported.
Russia didn’t waste the opportunity to speak out against Ukraine in this situation, claiming the incident that happened in Canada is more proof that their efforts to take over the country are to “denazify” the country, which both Kyiv and its allies in the West claim is not true.
“On behalf of all of us in this House, I would like to present unreserved apologies for what took place on Friday and to President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian delegation for the position they were put in,” Trudeau went on to say before the House on Wednesday. “For all of us who were present to have unknowingly recognized this individual was a terrible mistake and a violation of the memory of those who suffered grievously at the hands of the Nazi regime.”
Earlier on the same day, officials at the Kremlin stated that the entirety of the Canadian parliament needs to issue a public statement condemning Nazism.
“It is extremely troubling to think that this egregious error is being politicized by Russia and its supporters to provide false propaganda about what Ukraine is fighting for,” Trudeau continued in remarks given earlier to reporters.
According to the report, “Hunka lives in Rota’s parliamentary constituency. Trudeau said the Liberal government had no responsibility for vetting who the speaker had invited. The official opposition Conservatives say Trudeau was ultimately responsible for what happened, given he had invited Zelenskyy to address the Canadian parliament, and accused him of negligence.”
At the end of the day, the folks within the Canadian government should have made it their personal responsibility to look into the individual they invited to come and make a speech to their officials. This isn’t rocket science.
What really bakes the old noddle here is that Democrats here in the United States look to Canada as an example of the kind of government they want to put in place here. This level of idiocy is what they want to replace our beautiful republic with. And the left wonders why so many conservatives and patriots are fighting hard against their takeover of not only the government, but our culture?
Look no further than Trudeau and company.
