When a liberal politicians moves so far to the left that it leaves a progressive propaganda maker in the mainstream media speechless, you know they’ve gone way too far. This exactly what happened when Democratic Massachusetts Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley did an interview with CNN host Jake Tapper and somehow, with a straight face, claimed that the southern border the United States shares with Mexico is totally “secure.”
According to TheBlaze, Tapper was absolutely stunned by the comment. As any American possessing even a modicum of common sense would be, seeing as how a recent report revealed that in the month of August alone, Border Patrol had over 300,000 encounters with illegal migrants who came into the country. If the border is secure, how did these people get into the country? Does the left really believe folks in America are that stupid?
“The border crisis is once again front and center in the national debate as a new wave of migrants surge into the U.S., overwhelming border cities already stretched beyond their limits. The issue — specifically increasing funding for border security — is also one of the major sticking points in the debate on Capitol Hill about passing a short-term funding bill to avert a government shutdown,” the report said.
Pressley says that kind of funding is not necessary, telling Tapper during their conversation that the border is already “secure.”
“No doubt about it, our border is secure. And we are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, and we have to fix a broken system, and we ought to…” the Democratic congresswoman proclaimed.
“You think it is secure? You think the border is secure? Or it’s not secure?” Tapper asked as a follow up question. It’s like the little hamster was running on the wheel in Tapper’s head, processing what he just heard, but paused for a moment because there’s no way the words she spoke were heard right.
Pressley then replied to Tapper by further elaborating on her point concerning a “humanitarian crisis,” which the CNN anchor agreed with. He then asked the congresswoman again if she believed the southern border was “secure.”
“The border is secure,” she declared a second time.”The border is secure,” she said for a second time.
Pressley attempted to shift the conversation away from the border and back to the government shutdown, but Tapper wasn’t having it. He seemed truly appalled by her statement.
“But if you have millions of undocumented migrants coming into the country, how is the border secure?” he pressed. The Massachusetts congresswoman did not provide an answer to that question, which then led to Tapper sharing the actual textbook definition of what “secure” means in order to show Pressley how she was wrong about the border.
“I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying except for the idea that the border is secure. If you have people crossing border, it’s by definition not secure,” Tapper explained.
“Because [the border] is not secure, [migrants] go on this journey, and one of the arguments that is made — and maybe you disagree with it — is that the border should be secure so as to discourage people from making this journey,” he added. “But it just seems like just such a refusal to acknowledge reality to say that the border is secure when we all know millions of people are crossing the border illegally every year.”
After Pressley launched into a verbal assault against Republicans, Tapper gave her an additional opportunity to come clean about the border crisis. She then responded by saying that it “is a conversation for another day.”
And that’s when the interview came to a close.
