Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of the slain brother of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in November 1963, has officially made the Democratic Party’s worst nightmare come true. You see, RFK was running for president as a Democrat against President Joe Biden hoping to primary him and becoming the nominee to likely face off against former President Donald Trump in next year’s general election. However, he announced on Monday he would no longer be running as a Democrat, but as an independent. And now liberals will begin to cry, scream, and foam at the mouth as this could potentially split the vote in the general election and destroy Biden’s chances at a second term.
“I’m here to declare myself an independent candidate,” the 69-year-old presidential candidate said while speaking to a group of supporters in the city of Philadelphia.
According to the Daily Wire, Kennedy stated that political divisions here in America were “deliberately orchestrated” and stated that he and his policy platform contained the solution to that issue and would bring Americans on both sides of the spectrum back together again on common ground, stating that what he had to offer was for folks who are “fed up with being fooled and are ready to take back power.”
Here’s more from the DW:
The announcement comes after Kennedy was unsuccessful in forcing the Democratic Party and President Joe Biden into holding debates. A CNN analysis said that the last time a third party candidate had as much support as Kennedy was when Ross Perot ran in the 1996 cycle.
The report said Kennedy’s independent run likely would hurt Republicans more than Democrats in a general election as his favorable numbers are higher among Republicans than Democrats.
“Make no mistake – a Democrat in Independent’s clothing is still a Democrat,” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel went on to say. “RFK Jr. cannot hide from his record of endorsing Hillary, supporting the Green New Deal, fighting against the Keystone Pipeline, and praising AOC’s tax hikes – he is your typical elitist liberal and voters won’t be fooled.”
“American families deserve commonsense leadership that will return America’s energy independence, stop Bidenflation, secure our border, and get our country back on track,” she continued, “which is why our Republican nominee will be the next President of the United States.”
Honestly, this could really help out the GOP, especially if RFK stays the path all the way through the general election. If the vote among Democrats is split, it increases the chances of the Republican nominee — again, that’s likely to be Trump at this point — winning the White House.
But we need more than just the executive branch to effect change and restore the foundation of liberty in this country and shrink the size of the government. We need to take over both chambers of Congress with a very decisive number of seats. This way, we can actually implement the agenda that will dismantle the deep state and preserve the Constitution without any pushback from liberals.
