President Joe Biden, who was 90 minutes late to his own press conference on Tuesday, finally provided the American people with an update on what’s happening with the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel. It was not good news. During the event, Biden revealed a total of 14 Americans died as a result of the attacks perpetrated by Hamas against the Jewish nation on Saturday evening, along with more than a 1,000 Israelis. Thousands more individuals have suffered injuries.
And that’s not all. It actually gets worse. The president went on to confirm there have been U.S. citizens taken hostage by Hamas. Heaven only knows what’s happening to those poor individuals. We’re talking about a barbaric group of people who beheaded infants, so the treatment of hostages is most definitely questionable at this point.
Many folks will be quick to call for America to get involved in the conflict since Israel is an ally and we have hostages and lost lives from our own country in the mix, but I would suggest caution on that front. Yes, we need to retrieve our people. No, we do not and should not pay ransom to get them back. After all, that’s likely how Hamas was able to gain the funding necessary to pull off these attacks in the first place. You know, Biden having paid $6 billion to Iran in exchange for prisoners.
We can and should send Special Forces operators in the country to take out the baddies holding our people, and exfiltrate them back to the U.S. However, at this point, Israel is plenty capable of handling Hamas themselves. We should allow them the chance to do that. To get the vengeance, no the justice, they deserve to have in light of these horrific assaults on their people.
Here are more details from The Daily Wire:
He said that the U.S. would provide intelligence to the Israelis in their efforts to recover the hostages but he did not suggest that U.S. forces would be involved in any way in trying to rescue their fellow countrymen.
The 80-year-old president refused to answer questions from reporters about yet another foreign crisis that has erupted on his watch as experts and U.S. officials point to his weakness in foreign policy as a contributing factor.
Biden claimed that his administration stood with Israel and would be providing support but he failed to mention the Islamic Republic of Iran, which recent reports from The Washington Postand The Wall Street Journal have said was behind the attacks.
Jake Sullivan, a national security adviser, spoke during the press conference revealing that, as of this writing, there are still 20 Americans in the country who are unaccounted for, which, he clarified, did not mean these folks were hostages. Well, chances are pretty high that’s what happened to them, but let’s hope I’m wrong on that one. I really, really want to be wrong on that one.
Please, ladies and gentlemen, pray for the people of Israel, pray for the innocent who are caught in the middle of a horrifying conflict started by the vile actions of a hate group, and most certainly pray for the safe return of our own citizens.
