Prosecutors from New Mexico are fully intending to charge hardcore liberal actor Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of “Rust,” according to a report that was published by NBC News on Tuesday. The outlet cited two sources who are close to the situation. It’s likely Baldwin thought he was out of the woods concerning this whole matter, but folks are still trying to hold him accountable for his own negligence on the set, which led to the death of Halyna Hutchins back in October 2021.
Hutchins passed away after a shot was discharged from a revolver Baldwin was using to rehearse for a scene. A live round was loaded into the weapon and ultimately passed through Hutchins and into director Joel Souza. Souza survived.
According to Newsmax, “Kari Morrissey, a special prosecutor on the case, and a lawyer representing Baldwin both did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters. Baldwin was originally charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021. She died when a revolver Baldwin was rehearsing with fired a live round that passed through her and injured director Joel Souza.”
Baldwin has repeatedly made the claim that he’s not responsible for what happened to Hutchins, stating he did not pull the trigger on the weapon causing it to discharge the live round in its chamber. Prosecutors initially dropped all of the charges against Baldwin back in April after some new evidence came to light that suggested the weapon might have been modified in some way, which allowed it to fire without having the trigger pulled.
“Morrissey said at the time that if new testing of the gun showed it was working they would recharge Baldwin,” Newsmax said. “Subsequent testing of the gun by an independent expert showed it would not fire unless the trigger was pulled, confirming previous FBI testing on the reproduction long Colt .45 revolver.”
Well, this is quite a twisty-turny kind of story, isn’t it? Is he responsible or not? Did he pull the trigger or not? These are questions we need answered.
One thing is for sure, Baldwin isn’t exactly the most stable and responsible of individuals, so a thorough investigation is definitely warranted. How much such an investigation can actually reveal is up for debate.
What is really ironic is Baldwin is hardcore anti-2nd Amendment, wanting to deny law-abiding citizens the right to bear arms in order to protect life, liberty, and property, yet he’s the one who actually killed someone with a gun. Do liberals like him not see the hypocrisy in making movies that feature large amounts of gun violence, while also decrying the use of firearms and positive gun culture in the United States? It blows my mind.
Check out more on this from Insider:
Baldwin in 2018 joined a coalition of other celebrities and activists in forming the “No Rifle Association Initiative,” which aimed to reduce the NRA’s sphere of influence on American politics and society, according to a report in The Guardian at the time. The group hoped to curb the NRA’s influence by encouraging voter registration, demonstrations, and boycotts, the report said.
Baldwin also tweeted at former NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch back in 2018 after the gun rights group released a trailer for Loesch’s show.
“The Second Amendment is not a moral credit card that buys you all the guns you want,” he wrote. “That law needs to be rethought.”
Again, the irony.
