Republicans in the House of Representatives have dropped Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan as the nominee for Speaker, making this latest decision during a closed-door meeting that took place after he failed, badly, to gather enough votes to cinch the seat for the third time. What is going on in Washington, folks? Jordan is clearly the best choice for the job. Why are there so many members of the GOP who are voting against him? Is it to spite Gaetz for leading the charge against former Speaker California Rep. Kevin McCarthy?
That would be the height of childishness, but hey, politicians rarely act like adults. However, behavior like this, at a time when we as Americans need to be unified on principles of freedom, is one reason why so many voters have given up on the system. There is less and less difference between Democrats and Republicans.
“We need to come together and figure out who our speaker is going to be,” Jordan went on to tell the press confirming he would end his bid for the gavel. Speaker of the House is a critically important position as it is second in the line of succession to the White House.
“I’m going to work as hard as I can to help that individual so that we can go help the American people. And I’m also going to get back to work,” he added.

In the 17 days since Kevin McCarthy was removed in a rebellion by right-wing hard-liners, no other Republican has been able to muster enough votes to replace him, sparking one of the worst institutional crises Washington has seen in decades.
“We’ll have to go back to the drawing board,” McCarthy remarked.
The House is now ending its third work week without a leader. That means it cannot act on a $106 billion national-security package unveiled by Biden on Friday that would bolster U.S. border security and send billions to support the war campaigns of Israel and Ukraine. Republicans control the House by a narrow 221-212 majority and can afford few defections on party-line votes.
Aside from McCarthy and Jordan, Republicans have also rejected their No. 2, Steve Scalise, who won the nomination last week but dropped out after he was unable to consolidate support.
Scalise noted that Republicans are going to “come back and start over” on Monday. These people, who are nothing more than establishment hacks, won’t be satisfied until we have the reincarnation of John Boehner, one of the worst speakers ever, back in this seat. The man did nothing but compromise and sell this nation down the river for the sake of political power and a whole lot of money. Well, that and cry. He cried a whole lot. Which was awkward.
Congressional lawmakers revealed they would be hearing from various candidates Monday evening and potentially hold yet another vote the following day. As of now, two Republicans, Austin Scott and Kevin Hern, have stated they would be making bids for the speakership, with another, Jodey Arrington, stating he would make a final decision about running on Sunday.
