Brand-spanking new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, a Republican from the state of Louisiana, just made a statement concerning the source of his worldview that is guaranteed to infuriate every single one of his left-wing colleagues in Congress, along with pretty much every liberal in the country, and I, personally, could not be happier about it. During an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News on Thursday evening, Johnson revealed that the entirety of his worldview could be found if a person would “go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it.”
That, my man, is one of the greatest statements ever made by a congressman since the era of the founding fathers. I mean, that’s a bit of hyperbole, but I think you get what I’m saying. We don’t hear folks talk this way that often anymore, not even from other conservatives, so it’s super refreshing to hear such a statement coming from our newly-minted speaker. I have high hopes for this guy.
According to the Daily Wire, “Johnson, who received unanimous Republican support after three weeks of chaos — and three other nominees for the position — was elected on Wednesday to replace ousted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and spoke with Hannity about getting back to business in the House of Representatives.”

“Someone asked me today in the media, they said, ‘It’s curious, people are curious. What does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun?’” Johnson said in the interview with Hannity as he spoke of the heavy media scrutiny he’s experienced since taking the speaker position.
“I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it – that’s my worldview.’ That’s what I believe and so I make no apologies for it,” he responded.
“That’s your personal worldview,” Hannity repeated, and Johnson confirmed a second time: “That’s my personal worldview.”
“Johnson took his Bible with him to deliver his first speech as House Speaker — where he told every other member of Congress that he believed they were all called by God to use their gifts to the best of their ability to serve the American people,” the Daily Wire reported.

And it seems Johnson actually practices what he preaches. Back in January, during the race for Speaker, the Louisiana congressman was one of the few members of the lower chamber who decided to pray about the race when McCarthy had to fight through over a dozen ballots before finally winning the position.
Florida Republican Rep. Greg Steube posted up a picture just moments before the vote on Wednesday confirmed Johnson as speaker, writing in the caption, “In January, Congressman Mike Johnson joined me on the House floor while we were in a deadlock over who our next Speaker would be. We lifted up the speaker’s race to the Lord and asked for his divine guidance. Immediately after the prayer, 14 members changed their votes, ultimately leading to Speaker McCarthy securing the gavel by the end of the day.”
“Mike Johnson is a strong conservative, but above all else, he is a strong Christian. He’s not afraid to look to his faith for guidance. America needs that more than ever in the U.S. House,” he continued in the post.
And that’s the kind of man we need as speaker right now. Pray, ladies and gentlemen, that Johnson stays true to his principles and values, not allowing himself to be tempted by the lure of politics and of offers made to him by the establishment.
