Former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, sat down for an interview on “American Agenda,” a program on Newsmax, Thursday, where he stated that the true winner of the cease-fire and hostage deal between Hamas and Israel is not the Jewish state, but Hamas themselves. Not surprising, given the fact President Joe Biden, his administration, and the vast majority of liberals in this country seem to have a strange love affair with the Palestinian terrorist group and a deep, deep hate for Jews.
During the conversation on the program, Huckabee said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been placed in a rather difficult position, being pressured on the one hand to bring home hostages to their families, while on the other hand needing to keep his country safe and eliminate its enemies. Not a good place to be, considering how priorities conflict at that point. Being a leader is not for those who are psychologically weak. Which might be why Biden has done so horribly.
Later in the interview, Huckabee said that placing 100 percent focus on bringing home the hostages rather then winning the war could make Hamas even more bold and other terrorist groups along with them.
“The families of the hostages and many of the people of Israel are saying, ‘Get them out — no matter what it takes.’ Now, I think that it’s hard to not want to have that attitude — just get the hostages out at whatever price,” the former governor said. “Here’s the problem: If you start negotiating for hostages, then Hamas now knows that the longer it holds hostages, the more that they can exact out of Israel, and they will do it. And it’s not just Hamas.”

According to The New York Times, the deal includes a four-day cease-fire during which 50 Israeli women and children abducted by Hamas will be exchanged for 150 Palestinian women and children imprisoned in Israel.
It also features increased humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip. On Thursday, Hamas said 200 trucks carrying relief supplies and four fuel trucks would enter the territory each day of the pause.
Huckabee noted that he has been working with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews to provide food and shelter assistance to those who have been displaced in southern Israel since the attack.
“You have hundreds of people, thousands of people, who are now having to be sheltered in hotels, whatever available apartments that can be found, with family members,” Huckabee stated. “It puts an incredible strain on all of those resources.”
Again, this is the kind of situation every leader dreads being placed in, however, it’s also the very reason why we need individuals to shoulder that burden. Strategically, it might be better to just finish off Hamas and rescue the hostages through military operations rather than doing a ceasefire. One reason I say that is because you cannot trust Hamas. Radical Islamic terrorists are actually told that lying to gain superior military advantages is a good thing and are encouraged to engage in deception.
You can’t trust they will abide by the terms of any sort of ceasefire deal.
Secondly, if you want to send a message to these folks, you need to speak their language: brute force. Sad, but true.
