Every once in a great while, someone over at CNN relapses into actual journalism, instead of pushing their usual propaganda, which happened to Dana Bash on Monday when she actually called out the hardcore leftist section of the Democratic Party for not using the phrase “genocide” in the correct manner when describing the war between Israel and Hamas.
Bash made the comments when talking with Democratic Congressman Ritchie Torres, who serves on the progressive caucus. The CNN anchor was discussing the new accounts about the events that transpired on Oct. 7 as survivors of the attacks provided details on mass rape and severe acts of brutal violence carried out on Israeli women, asking why it is so hard for folks to come out and condemn these kind of actions.
Torres replied by saying the fault lies with a “long standing pattern” of anti-Semitism being directed toward Israel, not politics.
“Israel is combatting double standards and a delegitimization campaign even as it seeks to defend itself after the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust,” Torres stated during the interview.
“I do want to ask about what is going on inside your progressive caucus because I have certainly heard that there is a lot of turmoil. I do want to say that [Democratic Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal], who I had on yesterday, has been one, who like you, has called what happened on October 7th a terror attack. She has not used, as I have seen, the term genocide, which is what other members of your progressive caucus have used, using that word incorrectly, to describe what Israel is doing to retaliate. Can you describe the division and frankly what I have heard is anguish inside the Democratic progressive caucus over this?” Bash asked the Democrat.
“The word division gives the impression that it is evenly split. I mean, almost every member of the democratic caucus has been unequivocal in condemning the sheer savagery of Hamas. There is a fringe that uses provocative language, dishonest language like ‘ethnic cleansing’ or ‘genocide,’ but that is fundamentally unrepresentative of the mainstream, of not only the democratic caucus but also the progressive caucus.”
Bash also found herself in the spotlight on Sunday after she took Jayapal to task concerning Hamas raping women in Israel. How Jayapal responded is absolutely horrifying, going on to say the acts were horrific but “we have to be balanced” in condemning both sides of the war.

Islamic radicals are the ones who want to engage in a little ethnic cleansing, who want to see everyone on earth bow the knee to Allah, whether that is through shaming them as dhimmis, forcing them to pay a tax, threatening them, or committing acts of heinous violence against them. I’m sorry, but not all religions and cultures are equal. Israel does not engage in that kind of behavior. Not many faiths do. We can’t and should not treat Islam as having the same value as other cultures. Their actions are barbaric. No, we should not be condemning anyone other than Hamas.
