House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, a Republican from Ohio, are officially done screwing around with this whole Hunter Biden mess, threatening to hold the troubled younger son of President Joe Biden in contempt of Congress if he refuses to appear for a closed-door deposition. It’s about time the gloves come off. Hunter and his dear old dad have already gotten away with far too much. Time for the chickens to come home to roost.
The two men penned a joint letter on Wednesday and sent it off to Abbe D. Lowell, the defense attorney who is representing Hunter Biden, to inform Lowell that the committees will soon be starting proceedings to hold Biden in contempt if he does not obey the conditions of the subpoena issued by them for a deposition set to be held on December 13, according to a report from the Daily Caller.
“Contrary to the assertions in your letter, there is no ‘choice’ for Mr. Biden to make; the subpoenas compel him to appear for a deposition on December 13. If Mr. Biden does not appear for his deposition on December 13, 2023, the Committees will initiate contempt of Congress proceedings,” the letter goes on to say.
The report also says:
Criminal contempt of congress is a misdemeanor federal offense for individuals who do not comply with subpoenas, according to the Congressional Research Service. House lawmakers can provide a citation for contempt to federal prosecutors, a move without direct legal consequences for the person deciding not to comply with a subpoena.
The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Hunter Biden in November to appear for a deposition before the committee. Lowell countered with an offerfor Hunter Biden to testify publicly and skip the deposition.

Comer and Jordan are leading the House GOP’s impeachment inquiry into Hunter Biden alongside Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith. All three rejected Hunter Biden’s counter offer and demanded he answer questions behind closed doors before testifying publicly.
Earlier this year, in May, Comer also threatened to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt when the Oversight Committee was attempting to view an FBI FD-1023 document that allegedly contained bribery allegations made against both the president and his son, Hunter Biden. Members of the committee were eventually given the permission to view the document they requested a month later in June after whistleblowers with the Justice Department gave it to them.
Hunter isn’t the only member of the family lawmakers in Congress want to hear from. The House wants to hear from James Biden, Joe Biden’s brother, along with several former business partners of Hunter’s.
James Biden was supposed to make an appearance in a deposition hearing held on Wednesday in compliance with the subpoena given to him by the Oversight Committee. However, it seems the deposition has now been postponed and it’s not clear, as of this writing, when he will show up to conduct the interview.
These two need to be brought before Congress, presented with the evidence against them, and held accountable for any and all corruption they might have participated in, especially matters pertaining to President Biden. The people of America deserve to know whether or not the institutions of this nation have been rotted from the inside out.
