Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a candidate in the GOP presidential primary, stated on Thursday that the reason she made a major gaffe while answering a question about the Civil War was because the person who posed the inquiry was actually a “Democrat plant” in the crowd. So you’re probably wondering what in the world happened?
Haley was asked by an individual in the crowd to give reasons for what caused the Civil War. She rattled off several cause, but neglected to mention slavery, which was, honestly, the main issue that led to the conflict. The answer she gave is being called a “word salad.”
“I mean, I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do,” she responded.
“I think it always comes down to the role of government and what the rights of the people are,” Haley added. “I will always stand by the fact that I think government was intended to secure the rights and freedoms of the people. It was never meant to be all things to all people,” she said.

The respondent was shocked that Haley’s answers did not include a mention of the role of slavery in the Civil War, “In the year 2023, it’s astonishing to me that you answer that question without mentioning the word slavery.”

“Of course, the Civil War was about slavery, that’s the easy part. Yes, I know it was about slavery. I am from the South,” she said during a conversation with a local radio host.
Haley then proceeded to blame Democrat plants for the question.
She asked rhetorically, “Why are they hitting me? See this for what it is… They want to run against Trump. In town halls, I answer every question, and they are planting questions there.”
“It was definitely a Democrat plant. When asked him, he didn’t want to answer. He didn’t give reporters his name,” she stated.
We won’t know for sure, at least as of right now, if Haley’s claim is true, but would it really be surprising? I think we’ve seen enough of the radical left’s sneaky, underhanded tactics to know they are capable of anything. And while Haley is a much safer candidate than former President Donald Trump is, they have to at least attempt to look like they are fighting against the whole GOP or else the jig is up.
However, given Haley is getting a ton of money and support from establishment politicians in the Republican Party, the left knows she’s easy to twist and bend, thus, if she were to somehow win the primary and the general election, they’d be able to use the former governor for their own ends. You’d think that this would make Haley weary of continuing to welcome the backing of controversial figures in the conservative movement, but that’s not the case.
