National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre announced on Friday that he would be stepping down from his position as vice president and chief executive officer of the organization just a few days before a civil trial is due to take place in New York that will place his leadership within the group under intense scrutiny. This is not good optics, guys. Not good optics at all.
The departure, according to Newsmax, will take effect on Jan. 31. LaPierre has been the head of the organization for what seems like eternity, taking the position back in 1991. His replacement at the top of the gun rights groupwill be Andrew Arulanandam.
And this could not come at a more strenuous time for gun rights advocates, as yet another school shooting has taken place this week in our nation, which is causing the rabid anti-gun crowd to foam at the mouth in their hunger to strip away the basic, fundamental guarantee of self-defense protected by the Second Amendment of the Constitution. It’s become more critical than ever to stand up and defend gun rights from the insane liberals who want to see weapons of this nature banned completely, thus leaving us susceptible to big government tyranny.
“With pride in all that we have accomplished, I am announcing my resignation from the NRA,” LaPierre went on to say in a statement that was put out by the NRA. “I’ve been a card-carrying member of this organization for most of my adult life, and I will never stop supporting the NRA and its fight to defend Second Amendment freedom. My passion for our cause burns as deeply as ever.”

A trial in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit against the NRA, LaPierre and others who have served as organization executives is scheduled to start on Monday. LaPierre is among the witnesses expected to testify.
James, a Democrat, accuses LaPierre and other executives of illegally diverting tens of millions of dollars from the NRA and spending organization funds on personal trips, no-show contracts and other questionable expenditures.
James is seeking to ban LaPierre and the other executives from serving in the leadership of any not-for-profit or charitable organization conducting business in New York, which would effectively remove them from any involvement with the NRA.
There are no doubt a lot of left-wingers rooting against LaPierre and the NRA as a whole as they consider the organization public enemy number one due to the massive lobbying efforts the group has participated in as part of their efforts to protect and defend the rights of every American to own a firearm.
One of the top issues we as Americans need to research when we are considering who to send to Congress and the White House is where they stand on the Second Amendment. Our Founding Fathers understood that governments have a tendency to attract those who hunger for power and thus, they need to be kept in check with various measures, one of which is the Second Amendment.
If a candidate doesn’t support your right to protect life, liberty, and property with guns, then you know what, that person should not get your vote.
