Not long after former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley dropped out of the Republican Party presidential primary race following a severe shellacking by former President Donald Trump on Super Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell finally threw his endorsement for president behind Trump. And all of this despite the fact the two men have gone at each other on numerous occasions. How sweet.
“It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States,” McConnell went on to say, according to a report from The Washington Post.
“During his presidency, we worked together to accomplish great things for the American people including tax reform that supercharged our economy and a generational change of our federal judiciary — most importantly, the Supreme Court,” he continued. “I look forward to the opportunity of switching from playing defense against the terrible policies the Biden administration has pursued to a sustained offense geared towards making a real difference in improving the lives of the American people.”
The Kentucky Republican announced recently that he would be stepping down as leader of the Senate GOP this fall.

Trump has publicly feuded with McConnell on several occasions since the 2020 election. For example, in 2021, Trump said: “The Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political ‘leaders’ like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm.”
In 2022, Trump called the Kentucky Republican “one of the worst & most unpopular politicians.”
McConnell caught a lot of flack recently for his support of the “border bill,” which really had very little to do with securing the border and a whole lot to do with sending billions of dollars to both Ukraine and Israel to help them out in their current conflicts with Russia and Hamas. The anger toward him is justified. How can we possibly help other people if we aren’t taking care of our own country?
As a family, you should never try to help others in need if you aren’t first ensuring your how household is in order. It’s out of the abundance left over from hard work that we help one another. But family comes first. The same principle applies to the United States. This is common sense.
Right now, as we speak, there are thousands of illegal migrants who are crossing into this country and will end up on welfare programs and taken care of with free health care, while Americans struggle to make ends meet due to the insanely high price of groceries.
And yet, President Joe Biden has done nothing to solve the problem. How much longer are we all supposed to take the hits? Before Ukraine or Israel get a dime, we need to ensure our border is protected by finishing construction on the wall. Then an operation needs to be approved for the deportation of illegal migrants who are already here. It’s a two-step process that requires someone bold enough to do what is necessary to see the work completed.
