The House Oversight Committee is now launching a government-wide investigation designed to probe China’s meddling in the affairs of the United States, which includes examining the issues of election influence, espionage, its ties to drug manufacturing, and corporate security. The folks we have in Congress right now, the MAGA Republicans, are truly dedicated to cleaning up the swamp. It’s about time, right?
Just imagine how much more effective they will be following the elections in November? Let’s hope we can get members of the GOP as the majority on both chambers of Congress and in the White House. We’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
Chairman James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, has sent out letters to nine Biden administration agencies to take a gander into the resources that are being used by the them to fight back against Chinese influence in the United States.
“Without firing a single bullet, the Chinese Communist Party is waging war against the U.S. by targeting, influencing, and infiltrating every economic sector and community in America,” Comer wrote in a statement Thursday. “We know that this coordinated influence and infiltration campaign by the CCP threatens U.S. military readiness, the technology sector, financial markets, agriculture industry, education systems, and intellectual property.
“The lives and security of all Americans are affected,” it continued.
Hey. Do you guys remember that time the radical left swore up and down it was Russia that was interfering with all of our elections and that former President Donald Trump, at that time just a candidate, was in on it? Funny how it was actually liberals’ best buddies in China.
Here’s more from Newsmax:
Letters were sent to the Department of Justice, Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Agency for Global Media, Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, NASA, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and the National Science Foundation.
“The Oversight Committee has a responsibility to ensure the federal government is taking every action necessary to protect Americans from the CCP’s ongoing political warfare,” Comer’s statement continued. “Actions taken by the committee today are just the beginning and I look forward to full cooperation from agencies as we work to thwart China’s efforts to influence and infiltrate the United States of America.”
Comer’s investigation seeks information regarding what steps are being taken to thwart the CCP’s political and economic warfare campaign. More U.S. agencies will be called on to provide information on how they are combating CCP warfare, according to Comer, who will lead several hearings to address this national security threat.
When Trump was in the White House, he tried to leverage a new trade deal with China, pushing it to address problems such as unfair trade practice, which also included forced technology transfer and intellectual property theft.
The letters from Comer were sent out just a few hours before a new report from Reuters revealed the Trump administration’s CIA operation against China in 2019.
Three former Trump officials were interviewed by Reuters and revealed that the CIA made a small team of operatives who used various online identities to share narratives about Xi Jinping’s government to news outlets located overseas.
The CIA team promoted allegations that members of the ruling Communist Party were hiding ill-gotten money overseas and slammed as corrupt and wasteful China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which provides financing for infrastructure projects in the developing world, Reuters reported.
The current impeachment inquiry led by Comer is targeting President Joe Biden and doing a deep dive into allegations that Hunter Biden and his family have been making themselves filthy rich by selling their connections to then-vice president Joe Biden to companies in China earning them tens of millions of dollars in the process. Comer has claimed, rightly so I might add, that these deals have compromised our national security.
