Federal authorities have thwarted yet another potential assassination attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump. Charges have now been filed against a Pakistani national, Asif Merchant, who was plotting to murder Trump in cold blood. According to Trending Politics News, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York revealed a highly detailed complaint that sounds far more like something penned by Tom Clancy than a plant that would be carried out in real life.
The plan cooked up by Merchant wasn’t going to end with Trump either. Apparently, he was looking to take out a number of high-profile U.S. officials. Is it just me or is the world getting crazier by the day? Anyone who wants to save this country, who truly holds to principles of liberty and wants to see evil vanquished from the earth has become a target for the forces of darkness. If you aren’t a prayer warrior, you might want to get right with God and strap your spiritual armor on, because things are going to get more explosive from here.
Merchant is being accused of conspiring to commit murder-for-hire. The 46-year-old has connections to several foreign nations located in the Middle East, including Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq. He cooked up the plot to execute the folks on his “hit list” while overseas. He then came to the United States where he was looking to hire hitmen to carry out the assassinations.
According to the FBI, the plot began to take shape in April 2024, when Merchant flew from Pakistan to Houston, Texas. Under the guise of discussing business opportunities, he reached out to a confidential source who eventually alerted law enforcement to the nefarious scheme. This source then introduced Merchant to two undercover law enforcement officers posing as hitmen.
In a series of covert meetings in New York, Merchant revealed his chilling intentions. He allegedly offered $100,000 for the assassination of Trump and other officials, describing a multifaceted plan involving theft, protests, and murder. Merchant reportedly told the undercover officers that the targets “are the ones who are hurting Pakistan and the Muslim world.” Merchant’s meticulous planning included the use of coded language and multiple cellular phones to avoid detection.

Merchant then described the assassination as “heavy work,” then proceeded to apply terms like “yarn-dye” and “fleece jacket” chat about both the plot to murder these officials and the payment transactions that would take place in exchange for the “work.” When you look at the jargon used, it’s pretty clear this guy knows exactly how tradecraft and operational security work. He’s no stranger to this sort of cold, calculated, and politically motivated murder. Who knows how much blood this guy has spilled during his career.
In June 2024, Merchant took a serious step forward in taking his plans from the realm of fantasy to reality. After he spoke with a confidential source in a hotel located in Nassau County, he ended up holding a meeting with undercover police officers in Manhattan, where he gave them payments of over $5,000 cash as part of an advance for the hit. He then told the officers there was more money to come, going on to arrange for a financial transfer through an informal “hawala” system.
An investigation carried out by the FBI revealed that the plan developed by Merchant was only one small section of a much larger scheme being crafted by enemies of our country.
The complaint references previous Iranian threats to U.S. officials, suggesting a larger geopolitical motive behind Merchant’s actions. Merchant’s arrest on July 12, 2024, marked the culmination of months of undercover work by federal agents. Authorities apprehended him as he prepared to leave the country, finding a handwritten note in his wallet with the coded language he used to communicate about the plot.
One source who is close to the investigation told CNN that, as of this writing, no connection has been made between Merchant and the attempt on Trump’s life on July 13 which took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. The good news is the FBI stated they are fairly confident they have stopped Merchant’s plot in advance, revealing he’s been cooperative with the investigation ever since he was arrested. Then again, given the lawfare that’s come out of the Justice Department against Trump, I’m not so sure we should fully trust anything from the FBI.
However, the FBI did relay information related to Merchant’s plot to Trump and the Secret Service due to a public threat made against him by Iran. As a result, his security has been beefed up. Why the hate from Iran? Well, he pulled the crap ton of cash former President Barack Obama sent to Iran years ago that they’ve been using to develop their nuclear program and then he assassinated Gen. Qasem Soleimani, a high ranking official in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Guess they have an axe to grind, huh?
