Catherine Herridge of CBS News has obtained a series of internal documents that contain allegations of retaliation by Customs and Border Protection against individuals who bravely stood for the truth and exposed an absolutely staggering failure by the agency. As we all know, the left is desperate to prevent the truth of what’s happening at the border from ever getting out to the American people. Doing so would mean a number of individuals waking up and seeing how much damage has been done to the country through open borders policies of the Biden administration.
That, of course, would increase the number of folks who would be voting for former President Donald Trump and his tough stance on immigration, rather than casting a ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris who would just do more of the same in handling the crisis at the border. Which is to say she’d do nothing.
According to Trending Politics News, the controversy concerns how the CPB refused to comply and implement a critical public safety law concerning DNA collection from those who have been detained and accused of immigration violations, which the whistleblowers say left the safety of American citizens compromised.
The leaked government memo detailed accusations that CBP retaliated against employees who exposed “the agency’s intentional, decade-long failure to enforce the DNA Fingerprint Act of 2005.” The law mandates the collection of DNA samples from non-U.S. persons detained on immigration charges to bolster public safety and aid criminal investigations.
Mark Jones, Fred Wynn, and Michael Taylor, the three whistleblowers, have a total of almost 70 years of expertise in the field of law enforcement. All of them have been deemed worthy to have top-secret clearances, which includes access to Sensitive Compartmented Information, also known as SCI. That type of access helps to provide highly sensitive sources and methods of data collection.
Herridge conducted an exclusive interview with the three men. During the conversation all of them attested to failures of the CBP having had a huge contribution in the deaths of Americans that could have been prevented. The whistleblowers said that if the law was properly followed and administered, a large number of violent offenders would have been caught sooner, leading to the prevention of serious crimes. Like the case of a 37-year-old woman from Maryland who was killed by an individual that could have been stopped had his DNA been properly collected during his previous detentions.
“Are you alleging that Homeland Security’s failure to comply with the DNA collection law may have been a contributing factor in Rachel Morin’s death?” Herridge asked the three men.
“It may have been a contributing factor. Yes,” Fred Wynn replied.
“No question in your mind?” Herridge followed up.
“None…had the subject had DNA taken the first time they were encountered, there would’ve been an instant possibility that any future criminal activity would’ve been stopped immediately, and there was definite potential for the individual to be apprehended,” Wynn responded.
“Our investigation reveals a disturbing picture of systematic non-compliance and apparent disregard for mandated legal protocols designed to protect the public,” Herridge reported. According to the documents, nearly 70% of border encounters since 2010 have neglected the required DNA collections, potentially allowing around 950,000 violent offenders to remain unidentified.
The internal memo also described a hostile work environment for those who have tried to bring these issues to light, including threats of bankruptcy, forced resignation, or worse, retaliatory tactics. “The agency’s goal is to bankrupt you, make you quit, die, kill yourselves, or basically preferably all of the above,” explained the whistleblowers.
Just to give you a clear picture of how bad things at the border really are, ever since Biden and Harris took over from the Trump administration in 2021, Homeland Security data has indicated that there have been over 10 million encounters with illegal migrants.
“We know for a fact that not every individual who crosses the border illegally into the United States goes on to commit violent acts. But given the number, even a very small percentage results in a definite increase in crime within the United States,” stated Wynn.
“Ultimately, the Secretary of Department of Homeland Security is responsible. We know that he’s been notified of the non-compliance. They’ve done so with impunity,” Mike Taylor added during the interview.
Coming forward with this information cost the three whistleblowers a lot. They’ve been victims of harsh blowback ever since releasing this information in 2023. They’ve been demoted, lost their credentials, and some have even had their firearms taken away. According to the office of Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the whole point of this persecution was to discredit the men and shame them into silence.
