Catherine Rampell, a columnist with The Washington Post — typically a left-leaning propaganda maker — ripped into Vice President Kamala Harris’ economic plan, which includes a ban on price gouging for food and groceries items in an opinion piece published by the outlet. She then doubled down on her take during an interview on CNN, proving that there is still a little bit of common sense left among liberals.
“When your opponent calls you ‘communist,’ maybe don’t propose price controls?” the headline of the opinion piece Catherine Rampell reads. It’s interesting to note that the Post is owned by Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon. It makes you wonder how much authority he exerts over the kind of stories they cover and what kind of slant they take when reporting on the news of the day.
“What are these ‘clear rules of the road’ or the thresholds that determine when a price or profit level becomes ‘excessive’? The memo doesn’t say, and the campaign did not answer questions I sent seeking clarification,” she goes on to say in the piece. The columnist also wrote that it’s “hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is.”
Ouch. That’s going to leave a mark on Harris’ ego. A big one. It’s refreshing to see Rampell telling the truth so boldly and freely in a piece published by a liberal rag. Almost gives me a glimmer of hope for the future. Notice I said “almost.”

She described it as a “sweeping set of government-enforced price controls across every industry, not only food.” She added that “supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels” under Harris’ proposal. “Far-off Washington bureaucrats would. The FTC would be able to tell, say, a Kroger in Ohio the acceptable price it can charge for milk,” Rampell wrote.

An article from RedState notes that when an outlet like WaPo is making the connection between economic policy and communism like this, openly, then you know you have really crossed a line to the extreme side of the progressive movement. This whole problem, that of insanely high inflation, which led to these massive upticks in grocery prices, is the fault of the Biden/Harris administration. Both of these individuals have been in office for three and a half years now. Why hasn’t this problem been solved? Instead, it’s actually gotten worse.
“The ‘policy’ is horrible, but you’re just supposed to be vibing on how she’s going to take care of the evil corporations. She apparently vetted this policy like she vetted her running mate Tim Walz — which is to say not at all or keeping her eyes covered about all the bad stuff,” RedState eloquently concluded.
