House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is eager to put conservative firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, hailing from Georgia to work in the new incoming Trump administration, putting her in charge of a subcommittee that will work tightly with the Department of Government Efficiency. Liberals are going to cry themselves to sleep yet again tonight after they hear the news. They might as well get used to it. It’s what they are going to be doing every day for the next four years.
According to The Washington Times, the subcommittee under the leadership of Greene will be tasked with investigating waste and fraud in government spending and coordinating with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy who will be heading up DOGE.
The committee also will examine ways to reorganize federal agencies, improve efficiency and cut red tape. Lawmakers have already met with Mr. Ramaswamy, according to a person familiar with the plan. The oversight panel’s portfolio includes the federal civil service and the status of U.S. officers and employees. Mr. Comer, Kentucky Republican, plans to create additional subcommittees in the coming weeks.
The DOGE-related panel is notable because it gives Ms. Greene — a vocal Trump ally — a prominent role in enacting Mr. Trump’s agenda. The subcommittee also links Capitol Hill to Mr. Trump’s DOGE, which will operate as an outside commission but coordinate with the White House Office of Management and Budget. Mr. Trump has offered scant details about what he wants to cut from the government’s $6.75 trillion annual budget.
Musk who has promised to slash a massive $2 trillion in government spending, has already suggested trashing the Department of Education, a move I personally support, which is pulling a total of $79 billion for its budget, along with cutting funding to National Public Radio. I’m all for that too. It’s just propaganda for the deep state. Nothing of value is ever broadcast on NPR. Toss it out, Mr. Musk.
“The entrenched and ever-growing bureaucracy represents an existential threat to our republic, and politicians have abetted it for too long. That’s why we’re doing things differently,” Mr. Musk and Mr. Ramaswamy went on to say in an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal. “Unlike government commissions or advisory committees, we won’t just write reports or cut ribbons. We’ll cut costs.”
I’ve been waiting for what feels like an eternity for folks to be put in the government who would actually look into what these people are spending our tax dollars on and then eliminating waste so that individuals will stop getting wealthy by being public servants. This is how that process starts. It’s going to be amazing. January can’t get here fast enough.
